Inspired by this year’s #InternationalWomensDay theme, Accelerate Action, we know that change requires investment, representation, and relentless belief in potential. That is why we remain committed to ensuring young women everywhere feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving anything. This #IWD, we want to celebrate the incredible impact of all the women and girls across the world who have participated in the Award. Their ambition and dedication inspires us daily as they transform themselves, their communities, and the world. One example is from our brilliant Operators in the Bahamas, working with the Willie Mae Pratt Centre—a residential facility for girls under 18. Through activities like gardening, sports and yoga, crafting and making, and navigation training, participants gain vital life skills—self-belief, resilience, teamwork—that empower them beyond their circumstances. For some readers, these may sound like “run of the mill” activities, but for this group young women it was an incredibly expansive and life changing opportunity. They accomplished so much through challenging themselves, and they are a shining example of the transformative power of Non-formal Education & Learning. "Girls, especially those facing adverse circumstances, need investment in their lives. They need to feel seen. They need to know that they matter. They need reminders that they can do anything that they put their minds to." Happy International Women’s Day!

Last week, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh visited India and Nepal to celebrate the life-changing impact of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. 🏅 In India, where the Award has empowered over 150,000 young people since 1962, HRH engaged with inspiring participants, celebrating their achievements and reinforcing the programme’s incredible legacy of skill-building, resilience, and community service. 🏅 In Nepal, where the Award has supported over 6,000 young people in just 10 years, HRH presented Gold Awards to outstanding achievers and met participants doing the Award through Scouts and SOS Children's Villages—showcasing how the programme is helping young people develop essential life skills and create meaningful change. 🌍 The Award is more than a medal—it's a testament to the dedication and potential of young people worldwide.
