Together for Change

About us

Being a youth led organization, we are a team of change-makers who believe that every young person can help create a better tomorrow. We owe it to ourselves and to the world to make the most out of the abilities that are within us towards curating a clean, healthy environment and a well-informed community on matters relating to nature restoration, ocean and environmental conservation, climate justice and action, all through youth empowerment. Our sole focus has been to support works that enable the thriving of SDGs 13, 14, 15 and 17 in our community. We believe that conservation is humanity caring for the future, and that it is the preservation of human life on earth, and that, above all else, is worth fighting for. Our work is fueled by the belief that we cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around us. What we do makes a difference, and we have to decide what kind of a difference we want to make, and that young people everywhere possess dreams, ambition, and the same spark of potential to work through bettering our future and that of our communities. Our mission is to promote public support for and raise community awareness of issues related to nature restoration and conservation, ocean and environmental protection, climate justice advocacy, sustainable development and youth empowerment. Our vision is of a community which enjoys an environment that is both healthy and pleasant, which places a premium on sustaining such an environment for both ourselves and future generations and pursues sustainable development while educating and empowering young people at large. The surging threat of climate change, coupled with massive ocean biodiversity loss and escalating pollution, has become an urgent call to action. Last week, this urgency catalyzed a transformative partnership between the Africa Climate and Environment Foundation and Youth Pawa, leading to the delivery of a crucial ocean-climate awareness education program at the remotely located Tsunza Comprehensive Primary School. Driven by the mission to fast-track time-bound Sustainable Development Goals and restore hope in reversing the devastating impacts of climate change, we are in a race against time to build climate-resilient communities. Central to this effort is the empowerment of young individuals, inspiring them to take active roles in shaping a sustainable future. We firmly believe that through meaningful collaboration and partnerships with like-minded organizations, we can collectively rise to the challenge and overcome this global menace. I am immensely thrilled to have spearheaded a climate-ocean awareness education initiative at Tsunza Comprehensive Primary School, an effort that brought together the critical elements of ocean and climate literacy. Through this integrated approach, we meticulously examined the pressing issues that threaten our ocean habitats, species, and the broader environment. The presence of community elders was invaluable, as they shared indigenous knowledge of the Tsunza ocean ecosystems. This deepened our understanding of the challenges and emphasized the collective responsibility we hold as both the current and future generations to develop sustainable solutions, especially for a grassroots and marginalized institution like Tsunza. The session evolved into an engaging and interactive platform, with a dynamic Q&A on ocean-climate issues that captivated both students and participants. The energy shifted further when students were invited to demonstrate their understanding of ocean ecosystems in a competitive hands-on activity, where their creativity and insights projected vividly on paper. This showcase not only highlighted their grasp of the subject but also served as a vital starting point for tailoring a progressive ocean-climate literacy program, laying the groundwork for future learning, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Driven by a mission to build resilient, ocean-climate literate coastal communities, I feel deeply compelled to extend these efforts to more remote, grassroots, and marginalized schools like Tsunza. This transformative journey is unlocking new opportunities within the ocean space, preparing a generation equipped to mitigate the effects of climate change, and accelerating the broader fight against environmental degradation while inspiring a lasting change in our coastal communities. Yay! Some amazing news. I just started a new role🎊🎉 From being The Iris Project’s Stem Prize 2022 winner to now being part of their Advisory Panel is just humbling. This is a special milestone for me since I get to work with the most loving, supportive and great people around. The Iris Project is one of the few communities that believed in my mission and vision earlier on, even when it was not that clear to me and was still doubting myself. They not only believed in my dream of making the environment and world a better place - but also supported me, adviced me, nurtured me and held my hand through as I explored my horizons (they still do). They even made sure Youth Pawa is rooted on it’s ground. I will always be grateful, and sure blessed as well. Now through them, I’ll be serving others in an advisory role, which I hold dearly. I believe no one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it. I am happy to be part of the Iris Project orchestra. As I start this new role, I have a feeling that the ripples will be more mightier and to a greater magnitude. Be sure to follow our work, or sign up to the Iris Project’s newsletter to stay updated. Thank you The Iris Project for believing in me. I can’t wait to create magic with you all. Cheers!💙

An opportune era for young people to step forward courageously and build a better society and a thriving environment for all. It's always exciting, spending better part of my life, sharing, learning and interacting with fellow young people on advancing #climateaction amid the current #climatecrisis and political instabilities in the world today. My special thanks to Youth Pawa for organizing such an informative learning workshop where I shared insights on protection of Green Spaces (the most reliable carbon sinks on land) with environmentally dedicated youth. Together, we co-created sustainable solutions to safeguard our urban areas against the loss of green spaces and plastic pollution.

Last week I had an an amazing opportunity to attend both the Landscape Leadership Camp and the GLF Africa Conference 2024 courtesy of Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and CIFOR-ICRAF. From impactful learning to solid engagements, what an amazing time I had. Some of the key takeaways I took includes; - Being a landscape leader embraces the four points of I, We, They & It. This basically reminds us the power of collaboration and working together in building a just, healthier landscapes. - African future is in our hands. Our land is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is our healer and restorer. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life. We need to have a whole cultural shift, where it becomes our culture to take care of the landscapes, and in order to make this shift, we need to keep working together, and creating more awareness about how the Earth takes care of us and how we can take care of her in return. All in all, my highlights of those days was meeting new, incredible and inspiring people. I had a chance of connecting, learning and interacting with them fully. I am really grateful💚 #GLFAfrica

Honored to have participated in a transformative workshop at Ubunifu hub, led by Youth Pawa where we had conversations around co-creating actionable solutions for a greener, more sustainable Nairobi. The era of working in silos is over. Youths must unite, recognizing that collaboration and integration are essential to driving real change. With young people making up 70% of Africa's population, it is clear that the future is in our hands. —and the time to act is now. Aligned with SDG 13: Climate Action, we are committed to amplifying this call and driving sustainable practices to secure a better tomorrow. Let's spread the message, unite, and be the change-makers Africa needs. #SDG13 #ClimateAction #YouthEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment #AfricaRising

🌱 Youth Pawa Workshop: Co-Creating a Sustainable Future for Nairobi! 🌍 I had the privilege of moderating an incredible workshop on September 13th at the Ubunifu Hub, where we brought together youth leaders and sector experts to tackle three critical areas: pollution, expanding green spaces, and creating green jobs in our city. The day kicked off with powerful roundtable discussions featuring insights from thought leaders including; Brian Kithinji from Policy Action Initiative, Elias Muchai from Gjenge_Makers, Collins Lugongo from Green Generation Initiative and Dr Kenneth Mubea from Digital Earth Africa addressing Nairobi's urgent need for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. Participants then dove into group brainstorming sessions, developing action plans to expand urban green spaces and implement sustainable business models, aligned with SDGs 8 (Decent Work), 11 (Sustainable Cities), and 13 (Climate Action). The energy was infectious as we co-created innovative solutions, from utilizing technology for waste management to driving youth-led green job initiatives. I'm incredibly inspired by the actionable ideas and collaboration that emerged during the panel discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. The African fellows from beVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship also came through with their groundbreaking initiatives. This workshop was a testament to the power of youth in shaping Nairobi’s future. Let’s keep the momentum going as we work together for a greener and cleaner city! 🌳💡 #YouthPawa #SustainableNairobi #GreenFuture #ClimateAction #SDG8 #SDG11 #SDG13 #GreenerCities #YouthLeadership
