Educator and lifelong learner passionate about literacy and curriculum development

Such a great week of literacy learning and collaboration at Daegu International School with Cailin Minor from Erin Kent Consulting (EKC). This week, she worked with teachers to… 📊Use progress monitoring data to plan for small group instruction using decodable texts 📚Plan shared text and read aloud experiences in grades 3-8 that intentionally build background knowledge and vocabulary 🧠Explore the components and elements of knowledge-building curricular resources as we explore shifts in our literacy practices ✍️Develop a deeper understanding of strategies for writing in any discipline It was a wonderful week of learning and growth for our team, and Cailin left us with some great next steps. And — it’s always fun to spend time with a member of the EKC team! Thank you for a great week, Cailin!

Diversity consultant guides consortium of international schools through EARCOS Weekend Workshop To embrace the four pillars of DEIB — diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging — DIS met with Jessica Wei Huang, an educational equity consultant, and constructed a panel to learn about the school’s sense of “belonging” within the student body. With the freshly equipped spirit of determination, Huang hosted a workshop for the East Asia Regional Council of Schools(EARCOS) the next day. “DEI is a term that started in the business world as people saw that minorities were feeling disrespected and undervalued in organizations. Sometimes we use different words to name the same thing, which means that there are certain populations or demographics of students in every school community that don’t feel like they belong, that don’t feel seen and heard,” Huang said. https://lnkd.in/eq9yPVWR
