One of the best parts of working in South Korea is the opportunity to work side-by-side with our Republic of Korea Army brothers and sisters. This Tuesday, the Eighth Army Public Affairs Office visited our ROK Army Ground Operations Command counterparts in Yongin, about halfway between Camp Humphreys and Seoul. At the GOC headquarters, public affairs professionals discussed operational abilities and challenges and conducted a brief after-action review of the officer exchange conducted during the Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise in August. Both ROK Army and Eighth Army public affairs officers who worked at the others' operations centers said they learned a lot and had a "blast." After the meeting, it was lunch at a local restaurant consisting of bulgogi and traditional Korean side dishes. The ROK public affairs leaders were kind enough to also bring the team to Waujeongsa Temple in Yongin. The Buddhist temple was a pleasant way to close out the day. Eighth Army PAO thanks the ROK GOC PAO for the extraordinary day and look forward to the next meeting. Katchi Kapshida! ( 📸 by Spc. Kelsey Kollar, 982nd Combat Camera Company (Airborne))

This week we salute Mrs. Myong Un Choe, she is our Pacific Victor of the Week! Choe works as a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) liaison and paralegal in the Eighth Army Staff Judge Advocate's National Security Law Division. She was presented a certificate of achievement by Col. Paul Staeheli, Eighth Army chief of staff, at the headquarters building on Camp Humphreys, South Korea, Oct. 8. She's recognized for her tireless work ethic, steadfast dedication and completing a multitude of SOFA actions in a timely manner. SOFA is an international agreement designed to serve the mutual interests of the U.S. and Republic of Korea to protect the basic rights of U.S. citizens who are subject to its provisions. The US-ROK SOFA recognizes U.S. sovereign immunities and balances the American citizen's individual rights with obligations to the host government and to local laws. Congratulations to Mrs. Choe for job well done! Pacific Victors! ( 📸 by 20th Public Affairs Detachment)

If you're going to re-enlist, do it in style! Congratulations to Sgt. Jonalyn Albano who decided to continue to serve the US Army and took her oath of re-enlistment over Seoul in a Black Hawk helicopter. In the distance you can see Namsan Tower and Lotte World Tower - the tallest building in South Korea. The Army Oath of Enlistment holds deep significance, symbolizing a Soldier's unwavering dedication to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States. Albano serves as a supply specialist with the 3rd Battlefield Coordination Detachment base at Osan Air Base. We thank Albano for her continued service to our great country! (Courtesy photos)

✂️🎗️ Ribbon Cutting News 🎗️ ✂️ We had the honor of joining many others in cutting the ribbon on brand-new family housing towers on Camp Humphreys! This nearly $141 million milestone represents the last of the 12 planned towers along Tropic Lighting Avenue, culminating in nearly half a billion dollars being invested in American-style housing for servicemembers and their families stationed here. “Ribbon cuttings represent an end and a beginning,” said Col. Jeremiah Willis, FED commander. “The end of the project and the hard work that brought us to this point, and the beginning of something far more important – watching service members and their families breathe life into these buildings.” In serendipitous timing, we also learned today that the project earned LEED Gold status from the U.S. Green Building Council’s rating system. "It’s an achievement we’re incredibly proud of and reflects our commitment to a greener, more sustainable future," Willis said.
