Ever wondered what it’s like to “Walk a Mile in Someone Else’s Shoes?”👟 On Oct. 17, our team did just that! In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, FED held a simulation event while senior leaders took on simulated disabilities for a day, with plenty of challenges and aha moments along the way. The event featured candid discussions about visible and invisible disabilities, plus hands-on activities that made everyone rethink what it means to be truly inclusive. We’re proud to build empathy and stronger connections—because building strong goes beyond concrete and steel. Want the full story? Decoding USACE Far East District's Acronyms – Resident Office Edition! 🚧 We're back with another episode of “Acronym Adventures” and this time, we’re diving into the world of Resident Offices—the behind-the-scenes heroes of construction management! These teams work their magic with job site surveillance, construction management, and contract administration. In simpler terms, they ensure our projects are A+ quality and serve as an administrative contracting officer on a case-by-case basis. Think of them as the folks delivering projects with a cherry on top while keeping everything running smoothly on-site. Here’s a quick tour of our five Resident Offices and the amazing work they do: 🏗️ CRO – Central Resident Office Keeping Osan Air Base projects in tip-top shape with expert oversight! 🏗️ KRO – Kunsan Resident Office Handling all things Kunsan Air Base—making sure nothing gets lost in translation between blueprints and buildings! 🏗️ SRO – Southern Resident Office This team juggles multiple locations, including USAG Daegu, Camp Mujuk, Chinhae Naval Base, Gimhae Naval Base, and Naval Port Busan. They’ve got Area IV and VII under their watchful eye! 🏗️ PRO – Pyeongtaek Resident Office From airfields to barracks, this team takes care of major builds at Camp Humphreys—including those swanky new barracks! 🏗️ FHRO – Family Housing Resident Office Responsible for East Elementary School, those stunning family housing towers and those handy traffic circles around Camp Humphreys. Next time you pass by a construction project, remember: there’s a Resident Office behind the scenes ensuring every beam, cable, and concrete placement meets the highest standards! #BuildingStrong #AcronymAdventures #USACEFED #ResidentOfficeRockstars

When the Commander Points Up... But the Project’s Down Below! 👇 Caught in the act! Our commander’s trusty engineer point might be aimed sky-high, but the real magic is happening underground at Kunsan Air Base! Right now, our contractors are hard at work replacing overhead electrical lines with 6,500 meters of underground cables—that’s the length of 65 Olympic-sized swimming pools! But it’s not just about burying cables; the project includes everything from line ducts to manholes and vaults. Even though you won’t see the final product, this transformation will make a big difference, ensuring the installation stays mission-ready for years to come. #EngineerPointMagic #UndergroundTransformation #USACEFED #BuildingStrong #MissionReady

Rebar 🚧 Concrete may be rock-solid at handling compression, but when it comes to tensile stress, it needs a little backup. That’s where rebar swoops in to save the day! This steel superhero reinforces the concrete, improving its all-around strength and durability. Without rebar, concrete structures would be more prone to cracks and fractures—and that’s no good when we’re building facilities meant to last a lifetime. Whether it’s barracks, schools, or infrastructure across South Korea, this mighty metal makes sure our projects stay strong for years to come! #USACEFED #RebarToTheRescue #BuildingStrong #MissionReady

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work! At USACE Far East District, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do! Whether it's our engineers, project managers, contract specialists, program analysts and many others working behind the scenes, or our external partners like service members, stakeholders, and local partners—every person plays a vital role in our projects. It takes a village to safely deliver high-quality projects that support military readiness and enhance quality of life in South Korea. Together, we build more than infrastructure—we build trust, partnerships, and a stronger future. #USACEFED #TeamworkGoals #BuildingTheFuture #StrongerTogether #MissionReady

Concrete in progress! 🚧 Contractors placed over 50 trucks of concrete yesterday working on the second-floor exterior walls of East Elementary! When it’s done, this school will have the space for 440 students and staff - and the ability to expand to 600! This will be the third elementary and fifth school on Camp Humphreys, ensuring even more bright futures ahead! We can’t wait to see this space come to life! Peep Jim Degraff, construction control representative, at the end showing off his engineer point! #USACEFED #USACE #BuildingTheFuture #ConcreteGoals #QoL

Quality Check Time 🔍 At USACE FED, quality isn’t just a goal - it’s the standard. Today, we’re walking through the brazing performance qualification test! Before any brazing work begins on a construction project, our Quality Assurance Branch makes sure everyone is qualified. 📐 Optimal gap? 0.001-0.005 inches. 🚿 Contaminants? Cleaned away. 🔥 Torch skills? Like a pro. With testing and inspections along the way, we don’t just meet the standard - we set it. #USACEFED #QualityAlwaysDelivers #EngineeringExcellence #brazinglikeaboss #brazing
