From 1-4 October, we are proudly co-hosting the 21st Independent Accountability Mechanisms network (IAMnet) Annual Meeting, alongside the Accountability Mechanism of the Asian Development Bank. This year's meeting, held in Manila, Philippines, is an opportunity for IAMs to collaborate, share knowledge and improve accountability and compliance within our parent institutions. 📣🌍The IRM recently hosted a webinar focused on increasing awareness about its work with civil society across Africa. During the session, we shared insights into how the IRM addresses complaints and ensures that affected communities have access to fair and transparent redress. The event was conducted in English, French, and Arabic to reach a diverse audience across the region. We are truly thankful for the meaningful discussions and valuable feedback, especially regarding how we can better support communities throughout Africa. In 2023, the IRM awarded Young Volunteers for Environment Cameroon (YVE) an advocacy grant to increase awareness of the IRM among local communities in Cameroon and the broader region. YVE focused their outreach efforts on four key activities: - Community dialogues - Media engagements - Digital campaigns - Regional webinar These strategic initiatives have played a pivotal role in helping communities to better understand grievance redress and the role of the IRM in addressing complaints by GCF project-affected communities.
