New York's "Climate Week" may be over-but is it really? The way things are going, every week of the year should be "Climate Week." As global climate change worsens, its effects - such as rising sea levels, extreme heatwaves, droughts, famines, wildfires, species extinction, emerging infectious diseases, and human displacement - will become even more severe. And although this will impact every one of us in some way or another, Indigenous peoples, low-income populations, and other groups often referred to as "frontline" communities are the hardest hit. Philanthropy should support these communities - as well as the activists, grassroots groups, nonprofits, and NGOs that are advocating for a more just and sustainable future. A new emerging trend we at LGT Philanthropy Advisory are seeing is funding organizations or individuals whose role is to bring other players together, which is being called “systems orchestrating.” This trend is furthered by the launch of the Centre for Exponential Change https://lnkd.in/gJFmhvq5 - a support network for systems orchestrators by the Skoll Foundation and Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies. We believe in the role of systems orchestrators to help change systems for the benefit of people and the planet.
