Norlanka makes history as the first Sri Lankan facility to be awarded the Zero Waste to Landfill certification by Control Union. The certification was presented by Mr. Roshan Ranawake, Managing Director of Control Union, On August 15, 2024, CEO Chandana Ranatunga and Amila Jayawardana, Assistant Manager - Sustainability, proudly accepted this milestone, reflecting our commitment to 100% waste reuse, recycling, and recovery. Norlanka has set greenhouse gas emission target covering our scope 1 and 2 emissions in line with the latest criteria and recommendations of this SBTi which supports the ambition of the Paris agreement in limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre industrial levels. We will be reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by the end of 2030.   We have been working with our brands to understand and address our scope 3 emissions we have guided our supply chain to set the emission reduction targets aligning to the latest SBTi guidelines. #wearenorlanka

Norlanka’s findings on mangrove restoration at an abandoned shrimp farm in Sri Lanka were published at the 2024 International Conference on Mangroves for Sustainability. The significance of mangroves in coastal ecosystems was emphasised at the conference hosted by the Open University of Sri Lanka's Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development. It sought to investigate their function in climate resiliency, biodiversity, and sustainable livelihoods. To promote mangrove protection and sustainability, participants engaged in discussions and presentations, and forged alliances while highlighting the significance of ecological and economic balance.
