Unilever Sri Lanka is progressing the Plastics reduction and circulation agenda with speed and at scale. Last week we signed a pioneering agreement with the USAID, powered by Vega Innovations (a leading digital solutions partner), to scale up reusable and refillable systems across the country (UFill). For instance, consumers will be able to refill their Dove, Sunsilk and Sunlight bottles instead of purchasing new plastic packaging – and at up to 30% lower cost. Our integrated roadmap for the deployment of the tech as well as driving the required behavioural change, is now inflight. The initiative builds on several other global and local public private partnerships including the CIRCLE alliance between Unilever, EY and USAID and with local authorities in Sri Lanka for the collection of more than 100% of the equivalent plastic we sell into the market.
