It's a course for those with an interest in education policy for low- and middle-income countries including advice given to education ministers from around the world at #WorldEducationForum 2024. ‘Coffee Chats’ A series of informal technical conversations led by experts from our network. In the first three sessions, Beekee, Bookbot and Center for Integrated Solutions (Liberia), recipients of AI-for-Education.org research grants, shared their progress on: Getting AI to Work Offline Sergio Estupiñán Vesga, PhD, Co-Founder of Beekee, talked through their research on making Large Language Models (LLMs) work offline. SPOILER: it’s possible! Voice AI Technology Adrian DeWitts, Founder of Bookbot, demonstrated progress on making Bookbot – a oral fluency reading tutor – work in Kiswahili. SPOILER: the results surpassed expectations and Adrian discussed the potential to repeat this for all global languages within five years! Using AI to Help Students Prepare for WAEC Exams Dr Emmanuel Dorley, Senior Tech Lead at Center for Integrated Solutions shared CIS' experiences of integrating an AI chatbot into their West African Exam Council exam preparation platform WASSCE Lab.
