The upcoming EU regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) requires operators and traders to provide traceable proof that the products they place on the EU market do not originate from recently deforested land and comply with laws in the countries of origin. Since 2022, impact investors participating in the ADA-coordinated Smallholder Safety Net Upscaling Programme (#SSNUP) have been providing their agribusiness partners with technical assistance to comply with this new regulation. They shared their insights on the resulting challenges and opportunities for agribusinesses and smallholder farmers at a workshop: https://lnkd.in/ewzhFQ2K #developmentprojects #deforestationfree #EUDR #foodsystems Renzo Verne Solidaridad Network COCOASOURCE Oikocredit Coopedota R.L.

ADA will conduct a workshop with important stakeholders in the context of ADA’s new Inclusive Climate Finance Initiative (ICFI) at the FLII CA&C forum in San José, Costa Rica. ICFI strives to channel international climate funding and impact investment to the people who need it most. To this end, the programme aims to both increase the supply of financing on the one hand and to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations in partnership with local climate adaptation facilitators on the other hand. #FLIICAC24 #climatefinance #inclusivefinance

💡 The 2024 edition of the Agricultural and Rural Finance Training (#FAR2024) was an impactful gathering of dedicated professionals, organised by ADA in partnership with FAO and with the support of MAE, Luxembourg. From October 21 to 26, this transformative event brought together 40 participants from 19 countries, including representatives from microfinance institutions, banks, central banks, and regulatory authorities who had successfully completed the introductory e-learning session. Throughout the week, the training provided insights of agricultural and rural finance, empowering organisations within the agricultural sector to design financial products and services tailored to the needs of small-scale farmers. Some of the week’s highlights included: ➡️ Enriching experience sharing: participants openly shared their experiences, best practices, challenges, and solutions ➡️ Insightful field visit: a memorable trip, arranged by Family Bank Ltd on the recommendation of Anthony Mbithi (FAR2022 alumni), took participants to Kagwe Concept Dairies, a milk aggregator, in Kabwe Down. They engaged with the aggregator team and the breeders, asking questions about their operations, financial and non-financial services for farmers, and the support provided by the financial institution, bringing the principles of FAR training to life! ➡️ In-depth #climatefinance exploration: with climate change at the forefront, participants delved deep into the causes and impacts of climate challenges and explored ways to create sustainable financial solutions—a topic as complex as it is critical for our shared future. After more than five years of the FAR programme, the alumni community is growing, sparking new collaborations and impactful initiatives. We can’t wait to see how these remarkable individuals will continue to connect, collaborate, and drive positive change in the years ahead! 🌱 Start of the agricultural and rural finance training course in #Kenya🌍 The 5th edition of the agricultural and rural finance training (#FAR2024), organised by ADA in collaboration with the FAO and with the support of the MAE, Luxembourg, has been launched by the Association of Microfinance Institutions - Kenya (AMFI-K)! The training promotes agricultural and rural finance, which enables organisations in the agricultural sector to develop financial products and services tailored to the needs of small-scale farmers whose activities are crucial to improving the living conditions of rural populations. It also facilitates the exchange of best practices between inclusive finance professionals in Africa. ➡️ This year's face-to-face course brings together 40 professionals from 19 African countries, selected from the best participants in the e-learning session in April. ➡️ It will cover topics such as climate finance, agricultural insurance and the digitalisation of financial services for agricultural value chains. We look forward to discussing the challenges faced by the sector with professionals from all over Africa and to contributing to the development of innovative solutions in agricultural and rural finance. 💡 #AgriculturalFinance #RuralDevelopment #InclusiveFinance Caroline Morilhat Mathilde Bauwin Soulemane Djobo Manon LOISON Massimo Pera Petronella Chigara-Dhitima Anass Khallouqi Anthony Mbithi Karimi Nthiga Djitaba Ouleymatou S. On 16 October, the Luxembourgish government and ADA extended their sponsorship of a Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance) at the University of Luxembourg, the so-called ADA Chair. The Chair focuses on law and regulation of financial inclusion, sustainable development, financial technology and fundamental financial law research, including investment funds as an important element of the Luxembourgish economy. Over the past ten years, the ADA Chair has developed into a research institution that is recognised world-wide for its research and policy advice. To mark the event, Professor Dirk Zetzsche, the current holder of the Chair, drafted an article on the future of financial inclusion. Inclusive finance not only serves as a tool for increasing financial inclusion, it can also be a tool for sustainable development. A roundtable organised by ADA, the ADA University Chair and Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg InFiNe.lu in Luxembourg today discussed how inclusive finance contributes to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and generates positive impact. The roundtable participants called on Luxembourgish investors and fund managers to consider the contribution of inclusive finance to the Goals when measuring this impact.
