Big things are happening at #Cimalux! After 47 years of dedicated service, our clinker kiln in Rumelange is getting a major upgrade with a brand-new gear and partial kiln shell replacement. With a daily production capacity of 3,000 tons, this refurbishment is key to keeping us running smoothly. The kiln shell and gear were successfully replaced last week, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible teams and partners who made it happen. A successful plant open day at Cimalux!   On September 22nd, we were delighted to welcome over 300 visitors to our plant in Esch-sur-Alzette. They had the opportunity to experience our installations first-hand, explore our machines and receive a comprehensive presentation on how we produce our cements.   We spent a great day together with our local community and stakeholders.   A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event! Bundeskabinett beschließt wegweisenden Rechtsrahmen für #CCUS in Deutschland Heute hat das Bundeskabinett die Eckpunkte der Carbon Management Strategie (#CMS) und den darauf basierenden Entwurf zur Änderung des Kohlendioxid-Speicherungs- und -Transportgesetzes (#KSpTG) beschlossen. Dies ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein für die #Dekarbonisierung von #Zement und #Beton, da so die Anwendung von CCUS und der Aufbau einer CO₂-Infrastruktur in Deutschland ermöglicht werden sollen. Der VDZ begrüßt die heutigen Beschlüsse ausdrücklich. 👉 Mit dem Kabinettsbeschluss werden wichtige rechtlichen Grundlagen für den Einsatz von CCUS zur Minderung unvermeidbarer und schwer vermeidbarer Emissionen sowie für Planung, Bau und Betrieb eines kommerziellen CO₂-Pipelinenetzes auf den Weg gebracht. 👉 Zudem können wichtige Förderprogramme wie die Klimaschutzverträge (#KSV) und die geplante Bundesförderung Industrie und Klimaschutz (#BIK) nunmehr auch zeitnah CCUS-Projekte berücksichtigen. 👉 Besonders positiv ist zudem, dass neben der Ermöglichung der Offshore-Speicherung von CO₂ in Deutschland (außerhalb von Meeresschutzgebieten) auf Initiative der Länder auch eine Opt-In-Regelung für die Speicherung an Land in den Gesetzentwurf aufgenommen wurde. Dies ist ein wichtiges Signal für den Klimaschutz und die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit industrieller Wertschöpfungsketten in ganz Deutschland. 👉 Um den Transport und die Offshore-Speicherung von CO₂ ins Ausland zu ermöglichen, sollen ferner entsprechende Regelungen des London-Protokolls von der Bundesregierung ratifiziert und die hierfür nötigen Änderungen am Hohe-See-Einbringungsgesetz vorgenommen werden. Der heutige Kabinettsbeschluss ist wegweisend für die Dekarbonisierung der Zementindustrie und weiterer Branchen mit unvermeidbaren/schwer vermeidbaren CO₂-Emissionen in Deutschland. Auch ist damit eine wichtige Grundlage für die zeitnahe Planung und den Bau einer CO₂-Transportinfrastruktur gelegt. Ein Abschluss des Gesetzgebungsverfahrens bis zur Sommerpause und die Anwendung der Neuregelungen noch in 2024 sind nun entscheidend, damit sich geplante Projekte zur CO₂-Abscheidung in Zementwerken nicht verzögern. By the end of March 2024, Dyckerhoff and Dyckerhoff Beton GmbH & Co. KG renewed the Gold certifications for all seven German cement plants and ten German ready-mixed concrete plants after the three-year validity period expired. The #recertification was carried out by independent bodies based on extensive audits. The certified plants met the strict criteria for assessing environmental, management, social, economic, and supply chain performance, and demonstrated #responsibility in sourcing, production, and the implementation of technologies to improve #sustainability. Thus, Dyckerhoff reaffirms its commitment to sustainable cement and concrete production and inspires a collective movement towards more sustainable construction practices.
