Following the publication of the Steel and Metals Action Plan by the European Commission our CEO, Aditya Mittal, said:   “We are encouraged by the direction outlined in the Steel and Metals Action plan, published today. In recent months ArcelorMittal has engaged intensively with European leaders to reinforce the precarious situation facing the European Steel Industry. I am grateful to the time they have dedicated to this matter. Details published in the Steel and Metals Action Plan show they understand the urgency of the situation and are ready to tackle some of the critical structural issues, including trade defence, loopholes in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and the lack of regulation to drive demand for low-carbon steel. This now needs to be supported with rapid action that can put a stop to unfair trade, dumping and resource shuffling. Additionally, it remains vital to tackle the high energy costs which make it very difficult for the industry to move forward with significant decarbonization projects. We look forward to continuing to engage with the Commission and other European leaders to build on this momentum.”

Siemens Energy and ArcelorMittal are partnering to provide the high-grade electrical steels needed for key components such as the laminated stators at the core of all generators. ⚡ https://lnkd.in/eSFyHv8f “Security of supply and consistency of quality is crucial to us with our punching and lamination facilities working at full tilt,” says Andreas Konschak, General Manager, Erfurt, Siemens Energy. “We cannot afford interruptions in supply, and ArcelorMittal has the robust production capacity and technical expertise to deliver on our needs.” For the energy generation market ArcelorMittal Europe offers its ‘Industry’ range of steels. This includes a wide selection of fully processed and non-oriented electrical steels (NOES) – non-oriented steel has isotropic or multi-dimensional magnetic properties, which are critical for the efficiency of rotating motors and generators. CRISTINA DE LUCAS ARRIBAS de Lucas, CMO Electrical Steel and Automotive Sales Director, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, added: “Non-oriented steels will be at the forefront of the ‘Green Deal’ and energy transition changes across industry, and we are collaborating with our customers to provide smart solutions wherever we can. Within a generator, the precise thickness of stators and their lamination characteristics have a significant impact on performance, and we understand the calibre of product that customers such as Siemens Energy require.” #electricalsteels - Andreas Konschak - CRISTINA DE LUCAS ARRIBAS -Eric Werner - Ali Polat - Benjamin Seelisch Credit video – Siemens Energy
