⏰ How much time do employees spend searching for the right documents, policies, or other information? Too much. And that time adds up—time that could be spent focusing on what really matters. Now, imagine a new hire. They might hesitate to reach out to senior employees with endless questions or book numerous meetings just to get answers. What if they had someone always available to provide instant, accurate responses? All it takes is one 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 that knows your company inside out, keeps information secure, and ensures the right people get the right answers. 🔐 #RAG #LLM #RetrievalAugmentedGeneration #LargeLanguageModels #AI

Tilde’s CEO, Artūrs Vasiļevskis, joined Prime Minister Evika Silina and a delegation of Latvian business leaders at the “World Governments Summit” in the UAE. ✈️ At the summit, Artūrs had the opportunity to meet with the UAE Minister of AI, Omar Sultan AlOlama, to discuss AI development and innovation. The discussion focused on practical AI applications and Tilde’s expertise in developing a foundational #LLM for all European languages. Additionally, they explored opportunities to strengthen economic relations and build closer business ties between Latvia and the UAE. At Tilde, we believe that national and regional AI solutions are key to preserving language and cultural diversity in the digital age. We’re excited that TildeLM, the foundational large language model we’re building, is gaining interest across Europe and beyond. 💡 By combining knowledge and resources, we can create powerful AI technologies that drive economic growth and technological innovation. A big thanks to Evika Silina and Ārlietu ministrija | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia for their support and for providing this valuable opportunity! 📸 Photo credits: State Chancellery of Latvia

🌍 Andrejs Vasiļjevs participated in the "AI Action Summit" – a major gathering of AI leaders and heads of governments from around the world to discuss the pressing challenges of AI development. Andrejs joined a panel discussion titled "Creating a Virtuous Circle between AI, Creation & Information" alongside Alar Karis, President of the Republic of Estonia, and representatives from the creative and legal sectors. Here are some of the key points that he emphasised: ▪️ Trust and transparency in AI are not only ethical obligations but also key competitive advantages. ▪️ High-quality data plays a vital role in ensuring AI can effectively support smaller languages like Latvian. ▪️ AI policies should balance risk management with innovation. Regulation should protect progress rather than hinder it. Andrejs also shared Tilde's experience with developing TildeLM, a 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 specifically focused on Latvian, Estonian, and other European languages. Additionally, he took part in the European AI Champions roundtable, where #EU politicians, CEOs, and AI innovators engaged in an open and direct conversation on AI regulation. The discussion focused on ensuring that European AI policies foster the development of trustworthy AI while avoiding excessive bureaucracy and regulatory uncertainty. 🎥 Listen to the live discussion in French here: https://lnkd.in/ed-9yM5w 📸 Photos by Ilmārs Znotiņš, Valsts prezidenta kanceleja.

AI models are improving – but output quality still isn’t equal across languages. 🌐 Most large language models are trained on data from widely spoken languages like English. But what about smaller ones? Many still lack the support needed to perform equally well. Here’s why that’s a problem: 🔹 AI models trained mainly in English can struggle with less commonly spoken languages. 🔹 User expectations keep rising, but data scarcity makes it harder to improve accuracy. 🔹 Quality matters – especially in fields like medicine or law, where small errors can have serious consequences. A recent study tested 12 AI models on Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian to see how well they handle smaller languages. The results? While some models performed surprisingly well, overall accuracy still falls short compared to larger languages. Dr. Jurgita Kapočiūtė-Dzikienė, Sr. Language Technology Researcher, shares her insights and findings in our latest article: https://lnkd.in/d7JeahMh #ExpertsTalk #AIExperts #LLM #LanguageTech #AI

Customers expect timely responses. ⏰⚡ But finding the right information to answer their questions accurately can take time, sometimes causing delays. To address this, Valsts ieņēmumu dienests (State Revenue Service - SRS) partnered with Tilde to explore how AI could improve consultant workflows. The result? Vidis – an 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 prototype powered by generative AI. Vidis assists SRS consultants by quickly retrieving information from trusted internal resources and drafting response templates. 🚀 With this pilot project, SRS has become one of the first public sector organisations in Latvia to explore AI for improving internal operations. 🏀 “LeBron James has missed the most shots, but he’s also the highest-scoring basketball player. If we don’t take the shot, we’ll never score,” says Vytautas Šilinskas, former Minister of Social Security and Labour and an AI enthusiast, when discussing AI adoption in Lithuania’s public sector. In a conversation with Giedrius Karauskas, Head of Technology at Tilde in Lithuania, they: ➡️ explore the challenges of AI implementation in Lithuania and the fears holding it back, ➡️ discuss the transformations happening within European politics, ➡️ and highlight the systemic flaws in public sector management. Over 90% of LLM training data is in English. 🧐 This means AI tools are great at English but 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, leading to unnatural phrasing, grammatical errors, and lost cultural context. At Tilde, we’ve seen this first-hand while developing TildeLM, our multilingual foundational model. Our AI researcher, Dr. Toms Bergmanis, shares insights into why data quality matters when training #AI – and what we’ve learned along the way. Requesting satellite images doesn’t have to be rocket science. 🚀🛰️ As part of the Domino-E project, Tilde is developing a virtual assistant that helps users request satellite images and data using natural language. It enables anyone to request satellite images and data without technical know-how. “For example, if someone working in a municipality wants a satellite image of their area, they might not know where to go or what information they need. They might not even know the right questions to ask. That’s where the virtual assistant comes in,” explains Raivis Skadiņš, Tilde’s Director of Research and Development. ➡️ Read the Domino-E interview with Raivis here: https://lnkd.in/dvNkBMwB #AI #VirtualAssistant #EarthObservation #LanguageTech
