Marking the first anniversary of the Derna floods, the General Authority for the Search and Identification of Missing Persons (GASMIP) hosted a commemoration of International Missing Day, gathering families of missing persons from all over the country to discuss the efforts made to locate and identify their loved ones. UNDP and UNSMIL, through the Missing Persons project, work with GASIMP and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the issue of missing persons in #Libya and provide support for the identification process with generous support from The Netherlands. #SDG16

Advancing the collaborative visions for empowering Libyan Women This Morning, a meeting between UNDP Resident Representative Dr Sophie Kemkhadze and H.E. the Minister of State for Women's Affairs Houria Termal underscored a shared vision for advancing the status of women in Libya to create a more equitable society. Dr Kemkhadze reaffirmed UNDP's dedication to enhancing women's roles in political processes and decision-making. She also emphasized the critical role of women in economic development, environmental sustainability efforts and climate change initiatives, recognizing their unique contributions in these areas. H.E Minister Termal presented the key initiatives her office works on to promote women's empowerment, showcasing the progress and challenges that remain and future collaboration opportunities with the UNDP in the development and implementation of policies and strategies that support women's, in addition to enhancing the capacity-building efforts to equip women with the necessary skills and resources. #SDG5 #SDG17

This #MentalHealthDay, we shine a light on the importance of mental health as a vital component of overall well-being, In #Libya, UNDP is committed to promoting mental health awareness and support systems. We recognize that mental well-being is not just a personal matter, but a crucial factor in building resilient communities. We believe that the community plays a vital role in fostering a culture of understanding and support for mental health.
