Discover the inspiring story of migrants and refugees making headlines in Peru! Meet Javier and his partner Francisco who left Venezuela for Peru in 2015. They were searching for economic stability and now they run Patrón, a beauty business in the capital, Lima. Things took off for them when a client connected them with CREANDO, an online platform promoting entrepreneurship among migrants and refugees. Supported by PNUD Perú, CREANDO connects the private and public sector with refugees, migrants and local communities with the aim to strengthen the welcoming process through learning and empathy. Since 2022, the CREANDO learning community has supported 200 migrant and refugee businesses and enterprises. Fostering the economic integration of migrant and refugee people through connections with their Peruvian peers is crucial for their business ventures and quality of life. Only by facilitating access to opportunities and fostering mutual respect can the full potential of these communities be realized, contributing to the overall prosperity of the society they have joined. Gender equality is at the core of our development work. Thanks to our partnership with Luxembourg (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade) and the Republic of Korea (Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations), the #FundingWindows provide critical funding to scale up initiatives that help countries shift power structures and transform their economic, social and political systems, eliminating discrimination and inequality. ➡️ Our EQUANOMICS helps countries build fiscal policies that work for #GenderEquality, working with Ministries of Finance and Tax Authorities in Bangladesh, Costa Rica, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nigeria, Rwanda and the Philippines. ➡️ Our Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions continues to help meet international gender equality standards in more than 30 countries and through 91 public institutions. ➡️ Our Powering Gender Equality propels women’s access to the energy sector in pilot countries Ethiopia, Eswatini, Madagascar, and Malawi.
