[🌟🎉 CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE] The UM6P College of Computing is pleased to announce that our PhD student Ilias Azizi, co-supervised by Prof. Karima Echihabi and Prof. Themis Palpanas, has been awarded the prestigious VLDB 2024 Travel Grant. Thanks to this grant, Ilias will have the opportunity to present his paper titled "Vector Search on Billion-Scale Data Collections" at the VLDB PhD Workshop in Guangzhou, China. VLDB is recognized as one of the top international forums for data management and scalable data science, attracting leading researchers, practitioners, and innovators from around the world. The 2024 edition will feature over 250 research presentations, keynote talks, panels, tutorials, and workshops, making it a key event in the field. Congratulations to Ilias Azizi for this significant achievement, and to his co-supervisors, Prof. Karima Echihabi and Prof. Themis Palpanas, for their dedicated mentorship. [🌟🎉 CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE] The UM6P College of Computing proudly announces the publication of a significant research article by our PhD student, Mr. Amine ANDAM, under the guidance of Prof. Mustapha Hedabou and Prof. Jamal Bentahar, in the highly esteemed IEEE Internet of Things journal (Q1). The article, titled "Multi-Modal Deep Reinforcement Learning for Visual Security of Virtual Reality Applications", is now available in the "Early Access" section on IEEE Xplore: https://lnkd.in/eHHdf2Vq This research addresses the growing security concerns in Virtual Reality (VR) technologies, focusing on safeguarding visual content in VR devices. The authors introduce a novel Multi-Modal Deep Reinforcement Learning (MMDRL) approach, integrating both numerical and image data to better secure visual outputs in VR environments. [🌟🎉 CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE] The UM6P College of Computing is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Ouiame Marnissi, our third-year PhD student. Under the mentorship of Prof. El houcine Bergou and Prof. Hajar Elhammouti, Ouiame earned the 2nd Place Audience Award in the "My Thesis in 3 Minutes" contest, held at the prestigious EUSIPCO conference in Lyon, France. As the only PhD student selected from Africa in this competition, Ouiame has made a remarkable impact. Her research focuses on resource allocation for federated learning, and her commitment to excellence is evident in her full-time dedication to her PhD while serving as an engineer at OCP Group. Her work has already been published in several reputable venues, showcasing her expertise in the field. Congratulations to Ouiame Marnissi for this significant accomplishment, and to Prof. Hajar Elhammouti and Prof. El Houcine Bergou for their dedicated mentorship. On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the King and People’s Revolution, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic celebrates the 20th of August. This day commemorates a significant historical moment in Morocco’s liberation movement and marks the triumphant return of Sultan Mohammed V from exile, followed by the declaration of the independence of the country.

[📸📢 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS: Math&Maroc Competition (2nd edition)] The UM6P College of Computing successfully hosted the 2nd edition of the “National Mathematics Competition for University Students” in collaboration with the "Math&Maroc association” from July 28 to August 1, 2024, on the UM6P campus in Benguerir. This “Math&Maroc Competition (MMC)” was a remarkable edition, featuring over 200 participants who engaged in challenging tests and fun activities, attended inspiring conferences by exceptional keynote speakers, and had the opportunity to connect with exceptional researchers and professionals. Over five days, university students from all over Morocco and abroad tackled challenging math problems. This year’s edition featured significant improvements, including many new sessions that were highly appreciated by the participants. Opening with a captivating keynote speech by Pr. Rachid Guerraoui, the event established an inspirational atmosphere for the days ahead. On top of talks by exceptional speakers such as Pr. Salim Tayou, Pr. rida laraki, and Pr. Omar El Housni, we hosted an inspiring panel on industry and entrepreneurship with M. Hamid Ben Elafdil and M. Mohamed El Habib CHENGUITI ANSARI. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the organizers, participants, and distinguished speakers who made this event memorable. Their paper, titled "On Robust Controlled Invariants for Continuous-time Monotone Systems," has won the “Best Repeatability Prize” at the prestigious IFAC(International Federation of Automatic Control) Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems (ADHS) conference held in Colorado, USA. The ADHS conference is renowned as one of the top conferences in hybrid systems and cyber-physical systems. This recognition is a testament to the innovative research and dedication displayed by Emmanuel Jr. Wafo Wembe and Prof. Adnane Saoud.
