Being nominated for both of these awards is wonderful news and a testament to the great things underway in Kazakhstan!

Great to be in Istanbul, Türkiye again at the CBDC Conference where John Velissarios spoke about The National Bank of Kazakhstan and National Payments Corporation of Kazakhstan's ongoing work in the CBDC space (Hint: it's an actual, limited-production solution that has been working since November 2023 and is continually expanding into new use cases like tracking the distribution of funds for large public procurements, while still significantly protecting individuals' privacy). Simit Naik of nChain also provided a fascinating live demonstration of a utxo-based cross-border CBDC / CBMT / EMT / stablecoin solution that preserves sovereign integrity in ways I haven't seen other platforms do so successfully. A big congratulations to Christine Leong and her team including Damian Kozak who I know has put a tremendous amount to ensure a fully working demonstration which are risky even with the most mature products. Professor Ross Buckley gave a pointed presentation on the dedollarization of the global economy, a topic we have presented around the world for the past +8 years regarding CBDC. He cited an International Monetary Fund stat that the global economy will take a 5% hit in GDP (!!!) when the US's exorbitant privilege of being the single, dominant reserve currency is sufficiently challenged by the markets moving to using the Chinese renminbi. It's a matter of when, not if, and almost said as an afterthought in the final minute of his presentation, (paraphrasing) the facts that China is 4+ years ahead and the US is 10 years behind in CBDC development is a blip in the movements of the shifting global economy. #cbdc #digitalmoney #digitaldollar #digitaleuro
