Dr Joseph Gerada from the Family Business Office Malta emphasised the importance of supporting business owners who wish to remain active in the workforce. He argued that workplace policies must adapt to the realities of a multi-generational workforce by offering flexible arrangements, retraining, and upskilling opportunities. Dr Gerada stressed the need to create pathways for older workers to continue thriving, particularly within family businesses. He also called for stronger collaboration between public and private stakeholders to develop incentives such as tax benefits, subsidised training, and mentorship programmes to support this effort. Day 2 at the @EuropeanFamilyBusiness & AIDAF summit. In his opening address, Chef de Cabinet of the Minister for Enterprise Adolfo Urso said that the amount of recent foreign investment, including in the electronic and pharma industries that Italy is experiencing, is largely attributable to the hard work of #familybusinesses….this sentiment was also expressed in a letter sent by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella to the AIDAF which message was also shared with the summit attendees during this morning’s session.

The official opening of the #EuropeanFamilyBusiness Summit kicked off this morning in Rome. Over the coming days, as part of the summit, the Family Business Office Malta, represented by its Regulator Dr Joseph Gerada, will participate in discussions on policy affecting family businesses across #Europe.

Mr Joseph Gerada from the Family Business Office Malta is currently in Brussels attending the #Transeosummit.eu He will be delivering a presentation entitled 'The Maltese Business Transfer Ecosystem – Good practices and next steps'. In a nutshell he will be speaking about Family Business transfers and local legislation. Transeo is an international non-profit association bringing together experts in transfers and acquisitions of small and medium-sized businesses from Europe and beyond.
