Transport Malta, in collaboration with the Civil Protection Department, Community Police, and the Environment and Resources Authority, successfully concluded this summer's Skolasajf initiative at the Rabat Centre. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved in these sessions, where students learned on Road Safety, Multimodal Transport, Fire Safety, Ethics, and Biodiversity.

The cruise liner Mein Schiff 2 is using the Onshore Power Supply service in Malta, joining other ships that have benefited from this electrical service. The international company TUI chose to commission this ship in Malta due to the high level of professionalism in the services offered here. We are committed to keep strengthening our maritime sector.

Kurt Farrugia appointed Transport Malta CEO Mr. Kurt Farrugia has been appointed as Transport Malta's Chief Executive Officer and will begin his role today, Monday 12th August. He takes on this position after serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Malta Enterprise, where he was instrumental in leading strategic investments in the country.

Last week, Transport Malta had the privilege of participating in the European Onshore Power Supply Association (EOPSA) expo in Amsterdam. Malta showcased its pioneering project of providing land-based electricity for cruise liners at the Grand Harbour. This initiative is a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants, enhancing the environmental quality in the port and surrounding areas. The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works Dr. Chris Bonett and the CEO of Transport Malta, Colonel Dr. Mark Mallia, launched the annual campaign on Safety at Sea titled “Being Reckless Wrecks Lives – Be Safe at Sea" This campaign underscores the importance of personal and social responsibility for everyone using our island's seas, including swimmers, divers, and boaters, to ensure everyone can enjoy their time at sea safely.
