Lydia Action is proud to share its 2024 Bi-Annual Report dubbed 'Breaking Barriers'. It has been an eventful yet fulfilling 6 months into the year. #teampurple continued to drive institutional strengthening, women empowerment, education support for children and support to the older populations. Most notable however was the intensification of girl child programming, refinement of the women group business model and a new-found partnership with Health in Motion on a Chronic Home Rehabilitation Pilot intervention. We will remain steadfest as we strive for #abetterworldforeveryone www.Lydiaction.org https://lnkd.in/dezEKmyU

From the 15th to the 24th of April 2024, Lydia Action Staff and Elderly Care Group Volunteers underwent an intense training by Health in Motion Africa in Chronic Home Rehabilitation as part of its Elderly Care Programme. Twelve (12) Lydia Action Elderly Care Group Volunteers (10 female, 2 male) were equipped with skills on how to address/mitigate issues related to movement particularly amongst the older populations. Through this program Lydia has received the knowledge and skills to support the elderly who are struggling with pain and restricted mobility. The training was facilitated by the Health in Motion team. Through this partnership, Lydia will be introducing an essential component of care support to the elderly in contributing to older populations in communities realizing their rights to dignity, respect, and socio-economic participation. #abetterworldforeveryone https://lnkd.in/dezEKmyU

Earlier this week #teampurple under the leadership of Thoko Mafubza (The Deputy Executive Director) conducted field monitoring and follow up-visits to four (4) Lydia Action Supported Women Economic Empowerment Business Groups in Zomba District. Just over a month since receiving their business capital (loans), some have already demonstrated promising progress, with one group already making profits of 41% in such a short period. Some of the businesses being implemented include; selling Nutritious Porridge Flour, Rice, Salt, Eggs and Maize. Considering the time of year when these new groups were established and trained, as well as the glooming hunger period supposedly approaching the country this year, #teampurple has promoted income generating activities that have more immediate results as compared to depending on the production (farming) side that mainly depends on seasonal rainfall in the country. This challenge is to be addressed in the next cohort of business groups.
