At Satemwa Tea & Coffee Estate we love to work with small farmers and the communities around us. About 10 years ago we started off with supporting a few small farmers to plant herbals & flowers. We promised to buy it from them and find markets. Over the years, more farmers joined the program. The program got expanded to other places in Malawi and to other crops (#moringa ). We assisted with micro scale irrigation / fish ponds and we are doing scale up processing trials for the herbals as we speak. We are definitely on a journey and especially in the current worldwide tea landscape we feel the importance for diversification. Maybe our biggest learning is that starting small but early is not a bad thing. Slowly following demand and showing readiness to scale up are key! A small family owned estate in Malawi growing tea and coffee since 1923. We have a deep passion for our Tea & Coffee and we handle our products, our people and our environment with extreme care. We produce a wide range of tea products from black CTC types to artisanal handmade white teas and unique flavored teas. We export these teas in bulk and retail packages all around the world. We also ship exclusive micro lots of specialty green coffee bean direct to roasters all over the globe as well as roasting for our own brands that are sold in Malawi and the African region.
