We will not be silenced. We will march on, together. The return of the Trump administration is emboldening the broader, global movement against sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. Governments at the national, state, and local levels are restricting access to abortion care and post-abortion care, ignoring the growing number of women dying after pregnancy and birth, normalising and incorporating anti-rights narratives, weaponising transphobia to divide movements, all through rolling back protections that safeguard women, children, LGBTQIA+ individuals, migrants, and refugees. These attacks are not just about policy; they are about control, the criminalisation of equality, bodily autonomy, and self-determination, and the removal of human rights Those most impacted represent so many of us - women, girls, LGBTQIA+ people, refugees, migrants, and communities already excluded, over-policed, and underserved; the healthcare professionals experiencing pushback and violence for providing lifesaving services. These are the people we fight for. Our movement is global, unshakable, and united. When one of us is under attack, we all rise - together. Across borders, we stand with activists, healthworkers, decision-makers, and human rights defenders who have long resisted oppressive forces. We will not let anti-rights movements roll back our progress, criminalise our existence, or dismantle our fight for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. Alongside FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) MSI Reproductive Choices SheDecides International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Ipas we call on governments and donors to step up, listen to grassroot communities, and protect life-saving care. Denying healthcare and counselling services is not an option. Now is the time to galvanise our communities, strengthen our resilience, and demand a future where reproductive rights and bodily autonomy are not just defended, but permanently protected. As a community of SRHR activists, advocates and  healthcare professionals, we stand together, for US ALL.

IPPF RECEIVES USAID NOTIFICATION TO STOP WORK IN AFRICA Violence, power, and control—these are the tools of tyranny, often wielded by men who perpetuate systems of oppression. IPPF recognizes these cycles and refuses to engage with the Trump Administration’s unjust directives. Let’s be clear: this decision stems from abuse of power, imposed unilaterally from Washington, without dialogue or consideration of national counterparts. It is part of a broader, coordinated attack on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) that seeks to erase marginalized voices and dismantle hard-won human rights under the guise of policy. It is NO secret: ✨ IPPF has already rejected the conditionality of the Global Gag Rule. ✨ IPPF proudly stands for sexual and gender diversity. ✨ IPPF is unwavering in its commitment to gender equity. ✨ IPPF fights for the inclusion of women, LGBTQI+ people, and marginalized communities. ✨ IPPF champions accessibility for all. We will NOT let USAID, President Trump, or any administration demand that we prove our dedication to DEIA principles—or compromise on our mission to uphold sexual and reproductive rights for everyone, everywhere. Marie-Evelyne-Petrus-Barry, Regional Director of IPPF Africa Region said, “IPPF Africa Region is repulsed by these policies that have a clear and obvious aim of eradicating bodily autonomy, promoting white supremacy through the rewriting of history, and putting in real danger the lives of historically marginalised people. This administration is actively trying to erase the rights of those it deems unworthy, including women, people of African descent, LGBTIQ+ individuals, refugees, and migrants. Let it be clear: IPPF will not bow down to the tyranny of patriarchal directives. Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion is unshakable, and our anti-racism stance is a public declaration of our values and our mission. To our colleagues and partners: we urge you to stand firm in rejecting policies that perpetuate privilege, power, violence and control. Together, we will continue to fight for a world where sexual and reproductive health and rights are universal, unapologetic, and uncompromised. This is who we are, and we will not waver." #stopworkorder

  • Almost 15 years ago, TfaC joined Twitter (X), excited to connect with others who shared our vision of a more just and equal world. Sadly, X is no longer the safe and supportive platform that it once was. Like our friends at International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and so many others, we will be leaving X - prioritising our safety and well-being, and the safety and well-being of the women and girls we serve.   Thank you for being on this journey with us and please continue to connect with us on LinkedIn, Facebook and now on Bluesky! @tfacafrica.bsky.social

  • Thank you for including us in this important day Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI)

Today is International Human Rights Day 🌎 In the lead up to this important anniversary, IRLI, together with close partners the Paralegal Advisory Service Institute (#PASI) and the CENTRE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION, ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE - CHREAA, host a series of celebrations in prisons across Malawi, culminating with a celebration on the 10 December in the largest prison in Lilongwe. These celebrations comprise a legal aid clinic for prisoners, where information on bail and due process rights are discussed, a panel discussion with various criminal justice stakeholders, where prisoners can put any questions they have to magistrates, judges, legal aid lawyers, prison officials, police personnel and prosecutors. We also bring soap, meat and music, to make the day a celebration. Although we call these days "celebrations" in reality they are a brief reprieve from the hardship of prison life in Malawi. Overcongestion (230%), starvation, dangerously outdated infrastructure, lack of running water, poor ventilation and disease are common facets of life in Malawi's prison. Further exasperating the issue is that of pre-trial detention, with some detainees spending 10 years or longer in prison without a trial. IRLI along with its partners and the #MalawianPrisonService work hard to fight for the rights of prisoners and improve their lives. It is hoped that the Correctional Services Bill will soon be passed as we believe this will greatly improve their lives. In the meantime, we hope our #HumanRightsDay celebrations can bring some comfort to those incarcerated in Malawi's prisons. #HumanRightsDay #IrishRuleofLawInternational #RuleofLaw #PrisonReform #JusticeReform

  • World AIDS Day: A Holistic Fight for Change 🌍 This World AIDS Day, we honour global progress against HIV/AIDS while recognising the urgent need for holistic, interdisciplinary approaches to tackle the challenges that still persist today. 📜 Looking Back For Theatre for a Change, this journey is deeply personal. We began as an organisation focused on addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Over time, we saw that sustainable change required a broader approach to systemic inequalities. This led us to evolve our work with women and girls who are structurally marginalised to include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, and education.  This evolution reflects a key lesson for the global fight against HIV/AIDS: change demands addressing the intersecting factors—like stigma, gender inequality, poverty and lack of access to healthcare—that continue to fuel this epidemic. 💡The Work Ahead HIV/AIDS is not a solved issue. Women and girls in underserved communities remain disproportionately affected, yet global funding has plateaued. To truly combat HIV/AIDS, we must embrace holistic strategies that integrate healthcare access, education, and advocacy to address its root causes. 🌟The Future We Envision At Theatre for a Change, we are working toward this future by: Amplifying Voices: Creating platforms for people living with HIV/AIDS to share their stories and advocate for their needs. Reaching Marginalised Communities: Providing mobile health clinics that deliver HIV testing, treatment, and sexual health resources to communities and people with limited access to care. Tackling Inequalities: Integrating HIV education into SRHR programmes and building advocacy networks to dismantle stigma and systemic barriers. World AIDS Day is a time to honour progress and renew our commitment to a future free of HIV/AIDS. Together, through holistic, community-led approaches, we can create a more equitable and healthier world for all. #WorldAIDSDay2024 #EndAIDS
