Roblox has announced updates to their Parental Control Settings to enhance safety and monitoring. Here are the three key changes: 1. Accounts with Parent Privileges: Replaces the parent PIN and account restrictions. Parents will be able to link their own account to their child’s, allowing for easier monitoring of activity, screen time, and interactions. 2. Updated Content Maturity Settings: Experiences will be labeled based on content types (e.g., moderate violence or humor) instead of age, giving parents clearer control over accessible content. 3. New Default Settings for Users Under 13: Users under 13 will need parent permission for certain chat features, and those under 9 will need permission for “Moderate” content. These updates aim to enhance child safety, but parental engagement remains key. Stay informed to make the most of these new features!

Ever heard of the "Nothing Rule"? It's a simple yet powerful tool. The "Nothing Rule" means pausing before picking up a screen. It's about doing nothing for a moment. This pause helps kids think about their choice and decide if they really need the screen or if there's another activity they'd enjoy more. Here's how it works: Before your child grabs a device, encourage them to stop and wait for a minute. This tiny break helps them figure out if they truly need that screen time. Often, they'll find they might not need it after all. Practicing the "Nothing Rule" can help kids become more mindful and in control. It builds patience and teaches that not every urge needs an immediate response. And guess what? It's a great tool for you as a parent too. Show your kids that you also take a minute before reaching for your phone. They'll see that managing screen time is important for everyone. When you and your kids consistently use the "Nothing Rule," it helps manage impulses. It builds healthier tech habits. Your family finds balance, enjoying tech benefits without getting hooked. So, next time you're about to reach for a device, think of the "Nothing Rule." It's a small step that makes a big difference. Let's build those healthy habits together! ...see less

Dopamine: A Friend or Foe for Your Child’s Screen Time? This powerful neurotransmitter, often called the ‘feel-good’ chemical, plays a major role in your child’s mood, motivation, and focus. But when it comes to screen time, balancing dopamine is crucial. Let’s break it down: Boosts Learning 📚: When dopamine levels are balanced, kids feel motivated and energized, making learning enjoyable. That burst of excitement when they complete an educational game? That’s dopamine doing its job. Improves Focus 🧘: Dopamine helps children concentrate, turning screen time into productive learning time. This is why structured digital habits are so effective. But balance is key. Risks of Imbalance ⚠️: Too little dopamine can leave kids feeling unmotivated, while too much can lead to impulsive behaviors or tech addiction. It’s all about helping them manage screen time in a way that keeps dopamine levels steady. Tips to Maintain Balance: ➡ Encourage physical activity. Exercise is a great, natural way for kids to regulate dopamine. ➡️ Focus on nutrition. A well-balanced diet supports healthy brain function, fueling kids' learning and play. At Carrots&Cake, we help families keep dopamine in check so that screen time remains a tool for growth, not a source of stress. With the right balance, kids not only learn effectively but also stay motivated and happy. Let’s make dopamine their ally, not their adversary!

Australia is planning to introduce a minimum age limit, likely between 14 and 16, for social media use, citing concerns about the mental and physical health impacts on children. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government will run an age verification trial before implementing the law. This move has sparked criticism from digital rights advocates who warn that it could push younger users to more dangerous, less regulated online spaces. While platforms like Facebook and Instagram currently have a self-imposed age limit of 13, experts express concern that a ban might exclude young people from important social interactions and support systems. Is this the right approach? Let us know your thoughts! 💻🌍 #SocialMedia #DigitalSafety #YouthWellbeing #OnlineSafety #AustraliaNews

...𝗠𝘆 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲? 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 ...𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀. ...𝗜'𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀. Do any of these lines sound familiar to you? Sarah, a mom to two young daughters, used to think this way. Her girls were just 8 and 5 then when the unexpected happened. Like any addiction, it starts small. Maybe just a few minutes of fidgeting with Mom's phone. Those minutes will eventually turn into a couple of hours. And from those hours will spawn more hours in a day, until it practically becomes unlimited. Did Sarah do something about it? Of course, she did. She wrestled away the devices or called for a timeout whenever she felt her kids were having way too many already. And I wished it all stopped there. The kids, finally learning their lesson, and from now on played more responsibly. The whole family is back to normal again. Unfortunately... it didn't. Her controlling habit led her eldest to be secretive. The young one would sneak out of her room late at night to play with the computer. And the most disheartening of all, the child has learned to search for "inappropriate" adult content. Sarah's world came crashing down. In her words "I was in a desperate place." Tell me, how would you feel if you discovered your daughter, or your son, doing such? How long will you keep delaying? That's it's normal. Everything will right itself eventually. Where do you draw the line and decide it's time to take action? Your first step can start with the free online event I'm sharing with Meredith DePaolo, and hosted by Carrots&Cake. Yes, that's right. FREE. It's happening on the 28th, at 9:00 PM EDT | 29th, at 9:00 AM PST. Click on the link in the comments section to read more and secure your seat. #parenting #ScreenTime #family

Digital Harassment of Teachers by Students: Unveiling the Dark Side of Social Media in Schools It’s alarming to witness the recent incident at Great Valley Middle School in Malvern, Pa., where students launched a mass attack on their teachers using fake TikTok accounts. This distressing event underscores the urgent need for responsible technology use and digital literacy. Here are the critical points: Severe Impact on Teachers: More than 20 educators were impersonated with inappropriate and harmful content, deeply affecting their morale and mental health. This level of digital harassment is unacceptable and demoralizing. 😞 Limited Accountability Measures: While the school took disciplinary actions, legal constraints hinder their ability to fully address off-campus behavior. We need clearer policies and stronger measures to safeguard both students and educators. 📜⚖️ Educational Imperatives: It’s crucial that schools implement comprehensive digital citizenship programs to educate students on the real-world consequences of their online actions. Empathy, respect, and responsible tech use must be at the forefront of our educational efforts. 🏫🌍 Parental Guidance is Essential: Parents must be vigilant and proactive in guiding their children’s online behavior. Open conversations about the dangers and responsibilities associated with social media are vital. 👨👩👧👦💬 This situation is a wake-up call! At Carrots&Cake, we emphasize the importance of digital literacy and responsible tech use. Let’s come together to create safer, more respectful online environments for our students and teachers. #DigitalLiteracy #ResponsibleTechUse #OnlineSafety #Education #ParentalGuidance #Cyberbullying #EmpathyInEducation
