“Companies that unlock the growth combination of data, tech and people generate 2.8x greater productivity premium than those that implement data and tech solutions but fail to put people at the center.” ~ Accenture, October 30, 2024 _ _ _ I believe the future of profitable growth lies in our ability to leverage advanced technology and generative AI to drive productivity improvements. While cost-cutting measures have traditionally been a go-to strategy, they are no longer sufficient to ensure sustainable growth. We can reimagine work processes to enhance both efficiency and effectiveness by incorporating cutting-edge technologies into our strategy. Generative AI, in particular, offers significant potential to transform operations—enabling automation of routine tasks, streamlining decision-making, and promoting innovation. However, achieving these gains requires a balanced approach that brings together people, technology, and processes. The board must actively collaborate and support management's efforts to adopt advanced technologies like generative AI while ensuring that these innovations are strategically aligned with the company’s growth objectives. Encouraging collaboration between leadership, technology, and people paves the way to enhance productivity and drive sustainable, profitable growth, which positions the company for long-term success. #leaders #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #coaching #executivecoaching #leadershipcoaching #coachingmentoring #professionalcoaching #icfcoach #kaceconsultants

I was deeply inspired by Dato’ Teik Ngan Loy, Chairman of Taylor’s Education Group (TEG), during his keynote address at today’s ESG Festival 3.0, themed "Ecowarriors: Taking Action for the Planet and People." His vision for ESG initiatives, and the personal importance he places on them, resonated with me. “I have one rule – there must not be any greenwashing. We must do it because we want to do it!” This powerful statement by Dato’ Loy struck a chord. It’s one thing to dream or talk about sustainability, but it’s another to bring it to life with commitment and passion. I truly admire how TEG’s ESG vision is not only embedded in the group's strategies but also operationalised by a dedicated team. The ESG Committee exemplifies this passion, ensuring that these initiatives are driven by genuine intent, not just empty words. I also appreciate how this event brings together the many partners and stakeholders of TEG to amplify and celebrate this critical cause. A special thanks to Dr. Lydia May Wong (Ph.D) for the kind invitation! Well done to you, Hannah Kamal, Nufus Sulaiman, and the entire team – you have my full support! #ESGFest2024 #ESG #Sustainability

Both GenAI and ESG are key factors shaping how business is done. They each have their roles to play and I’m excited to see how their combination will benefit the corporate sector. “Being happy and positive at work can be a win-win for employees and organizations. But what happens when your boss practices toxic positivity? No matter how bad or stressful the situation is or how difficult the circumstances, they convince themselves that simply acting happy or thinking positively will change the outcome — then spread this toxic positivity to their teams. By doing so, they put the responsibility on individuals to try to survive and persevere in broken and dysfunctional environments, without addressing the root causes at hand.” ~ Mita Mallick, Harvard Business Review, May 27, 2024 _ _ _ I know from experience that toxic positivity in the workplace can be harmful. It creates a pressure cooker where you're expected to be constantly happy and positive, even when things are tough. This can lead to burnout and neglect of your own needs. It's important to prioritise self-care in these situations. Take time for yourself, practice mindfulness, and find healthy ways to unwind. Don't be afraid to set boundaries and speak up when things get too much. Your mental health is more important than maintaining a 'positive' facade. #leaders #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #coaching #executivecoaching #leadershipcoaching #coachingmentoring #professionalcoaching #icfcoach #kaceconsultants

I believe that ethical business practices should go beyond reputation management. leaders need to focus on building genuine trust with their stakeholders by being transparent and honest. Social media and activism hold companies accountable, and any inconsistencies between their messaging and actions are quickly exposed. The role of leaders in social issues is a complex one. While some argue for neutrality, I believe that taking a stand and backing it up with concrete action is essential. Empty pronouncements are no longer enough. Companies must demonstrate their commitment to ethical practices and social responsibility. #leaders #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #coaching #executivecoaching #leadershipcoaching #coachingmentoring #professionalcoaching #icfcoach #kaceconsultants

“While 74% of companies disclose their Scope 1 emissions, a mere 15% report on Scope 3. Scope 3 emissions can contribute up to 95% of a company’s total emissions, but as they are not produced by the company it’s difficult to have full visibility of their impact.” ~ Deloitte’s 2024 Sustainability Action Report _ _ _ It's alarming that only 15% of companies disclose their Scope 3 emissions, even though they can account for a whopping 95% of their total carbon footprint. This lack of transparency is a major problem, as it makes it difficult to get a clear picture of a company's true environmental impact. Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions that occur throughout a company's value chain, from the sourcing of raw materials to the transportation and distribution of products. They can be incredibly complex to track and monitor, as they involve numerous third-party activities that are often beyond a company's direct control. This makes it challenging to accurately measure and reduce these emissions. If it’s so difficult to measure Scope 3 emissions, how do companies go about managing it? Accuracy is certainly another issue to consider. #sustainability #esg #leaders #leadership #coaching #executivecoaching #leadershipcoaching #coachingmentoring #professionalcoaching #icfcoach #kaceconsultants

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps leaders gain self-awareness, clarify their values, and align their actions with their principles. Through coaching, leaders can learn to acknowledge their vulnerabilities and inspire trust in others. The ripple effect of coaching extends beyond individual leaders. It also creates a wave of positive change throughout the organisation. Through coaching, leaders become more authentic, and they are more willing to exemplify vulnerability and inclusivity, which then inspires others to do the same. This can lead to a more positive and productive work environment. Invest in leadership coaching and witness the positive changes ripple throughout your organisation. Support your leaders to become the best versions of themselves, and that will help you achieve a more thriving, collaborative, and sustainable work environment. #leaders #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #coaching #executivecoaching #leadershipcoaching #coachingmentoring #professionalcoaching #icfcoach #kaceconsultants
