Our Built Environment Committee gathered for the first meeting in 2025 at HL Design to discuss priorities for the year and appoint a new Deputy Chair. These priorities included focus areas for government engagement, future collaborations in areas like adaptive technologies, and an exchange of best practices between leaders of the Built Environment industry. The committee also appointed Ching Luan Lau (Arup) as the new Deputy Chair, taking over for Eusoffe Chua (GAMUDA), who has since left Gamuda. Ching Luan will be supporting the committee Chair, Martin Haeger MBE (HL Design Group), in continuing to uphold the Chamber's interests in the Built Environment industry. Also present for the meeting were Ir. Mohd Fazidin Faisal (Arup), Richard Baker (PwC), Sr. Dr. Zahiruddin Fitri (University of Malaya), Shaun Toh (Knight Frank), Datuk Seri Dr Michael Yam (Impetus Alliance Advisors), Nurnazar Amangeldiyev (NXS Design + Build Sdn Bhd), Jamie Duncan (Savills), and Bill Addington (Techsol) We look forward to contributing to the further development of the Built Environment industries in both the UK and Malaysia. 

Indeed’s new 10-level office in downtown Austin, designed by Perkins&Will, serves as a prototype for future workplaces, blending innovation, agility, and employee well-being. Situated in the Indeed Tower, the space fosters creativity and collaboration through dynamic activity-based work settings, biophilic elements, and hospitality-driven amenities, including on-site chefs and baristas. Vibrant wayfinding strategies, panoramic city views, and outdoor terraces with xeriscaping enhance the experience, while the design integrates Austin’s culture and landscape. Prioritizing sustainability and health, the office establishes a resilient, inspiring environment that supports Indeed’s mission to help people get jobs. Fox Rothschild LLC’s updated Minneapolis headquarters, designed by FCA, consolidates the firm’s space from a 100,000-square-foot, ten-floor layout to a more efficient 39,750 square feet across two floors. The redesign reduces private workspaces to 500 square feet per attorney, accommodating the firm's digital shift and centralizing visiting practitioner offices. Emphasizing a high-quality experience for staff, the office features a grand café, lounge areas, and open collaboration spaces that maximize natural light and foster connectivity. Reception and conference areas are strategically placed to minimize disruption, with the largest conference room offering views of Target Field. Inspired by Minnesota’s parks and lakes, the modern-industrial aesthetic uses dark and light tones, wood textures, and felt ceiling baffles reminiscent of the Northern Lights to create warmth and vitality. The office includes an immersive Experience Centre for clients and an Engagement Hub for employees, featuring a digital LED Lens Wall and a Discovery Showcase with advanced multi-touch systems.
