📢 As the High-Level Segment on Statelessness and the launch of the Global Alliance to End Statelessness take place this week, a significant development is unfolding in Malaysia 🇲🇾. The Citizenship Bill is being debated in Parliament and will be voted on today—a potential historic step toward advancing #GenderEquality. By granting Malaysian mothers the right to confer citizenship to their overseas-born children—retroactively, Malaysia would set a progressive example for other countries. This milestone is driven by the incredible dedication, persistence, and resilience of our partner Family Frontiers. #PindaPerkara14UntukIbu However, while this is a step forward, it’s critical that the government proceeds with the mothers’ amendment and halts any regressive amendments that could worsen statelessness. These changes risk putting vulnerable children at even greater risk. Let’s celebrate this progress while continuing to push for comprehensive reforms that safeguard the rights of all children. #EndStatelessness #NationalityForAll
