We are a non-partisan platform that’s building a movement of champions for democracy.

Perihal kami

#Undi18 aims to utilize young people’s potential as agents of change. According to the UN, young people, who represent a majority of the population in most developing countries, are today visibly contributing as political actors, innovators, entrepreneurs, and peacebuilders. At the same time, youth face disproportionate social, economic and political barriers which prevent them from unleashing their full potential. Before GE14, we worked with politicians and activists to ensure that lowering the voting age was considered as an agenda for both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan. We managed to convince Pakatan Harapan, who is currently the government, to include it in their manifesto. We have organized numerous social media campaigns to increase public awareness of our initiative. Currently, we are working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to create an online campaign to challenge misconceptions about the capabilities of young Malaysians. In the near future, we hope to expand our work on political education, especially with high school and university students.

On November 23, 2023, the National Youth Consultative Council Conference was held at the Kuala Lumpur International Youth Center. Co-Founder of UNDI18, Qyira Yusri was appointed as a Ministerial Appointee in the same ceremony and took up space in the debate on the fourth motion of the conference to call for the government to immediately review the electoral delimitation based on the increase in young voters after the Undi18 Constitutional Amendment. The drastic increase in voters during GE-15 has recorded a significant imbalance in the context of the number of voters, especially for parliamentary constituencies in the city. For context, during GE-15 the largest number of registered voters in Selangor was in Bangi Parliament with 303,430 voters compared to 51,609 voters in Sabak Bernam Parliament. This means that the voting power for voters in the Sabak Bernam parliamentary constituency is almost 1:6 compared to the voting power for voters in the Bangi parliamentary constituency. This motion has been approved by the council members and will be brought to the attention of the Ministry of Youth & Sports to be presented in the cabinet meeting. ada 23 November 2023 telah berlangsung Persidangan Majlis Perundingan Belia Negara bertempat di Pusat Belia Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur.
