2.4 tons of fishing nets recycled in 2023 This year, we’ve ramped up our efforts to combat the staggering amount of plastic waste in our oceans, particularly in Mozambique, where an estimated 10,000 tons of fishing nets are discarded annually. By recycling these nets, we’re not only giving this material a second chance but also taking a crucial step toward protecting marine ecosystems and supporting sustainable livelihoods in coastal communities. Our mission to create cleaner oceans and a healthier planet is gaining momentum, and we’re just getting started. #BioMec #petbottles #plasticwaste #biomecprosthetics #biomecwheelchairs #plasticwastesolutions #CircularEconomy #SustainableDesign #OceanPlastic #ImpactfulDesign

Research has recently been carried out to replace the traditional plaster used in orthopaedic splints in hospitals with PET bottles collected on the Costa do Sol beach. This research seeks an efficient alternative for stabilising fractured/dislocated limbs. The bottles are processed and transformed into a light, resistant and mouldable material. This material not only provides the rigidity needed for limb immobilisation, but is also breathable and comfortable, improving the patient experience during the recovery period. This demonstrates how innovation and sustainability can merge to offer effective solutions for local problems in different areas. #BioMec #petbottles #plasticwaste #biomecprosthetics #biomecwheelchairs #plasticwastesolutions

Over the last week, we had a meeting with the Spanish ambassador to Mozambique, Alberto Cerezo. We joined an incredible initiative that allows young entrepreneurs from six African countries, including [Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Mozambique, Senegal and South Africa], to explore the headquarters of major Spanish companies and participate in meaningful discussions with executives and government officials focused on economic and commercial issues. Strengthen ties and establish valuable connections in various sectors. The program included visits to industrial and financial companies, as well as interactions with relevant ministries, identifying key contacts aligned with our industry for personalized meetings.
