PHN works to mitigate the impact of HIV through ensuring access to quality health care for vulnerable populations.

About us

Project HOPE has been working to address the burden of HIV in Namibia since 2002. In partnership with local organizations and in close coordination with the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, we implement programs funded by PEPFAR/USAID and UNICEF to help at-risk populations across the country access treatment, education, counselling, and opportunities to improve their income.

  • In the heart of industrial Windhoek, Mello Bakery hums with activity. The 24-hour operation, which produces thousands of loaves of bread every day, has recently become the place of work for young Rosamunde, a participant in the U.S. Government-funded Reach Namibia project. The 23-year-old lives with her mother and siblings in Katutura’s Ombili location, a residential area on the outskirts of Windhoek of lower socio-economic status, where she heard about the initiative from a neighbor. • Exciting week at PHN! We had the incredible honor of hosting Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations. Among other activities, she visited PEPPAR-funded projects aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Namibia and connected with DREAMS participants at a dedicated adolescent and youth-friendly health services corner in Katutura. • Earlier this week, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Molly Phee engaged with young Namibians at the Be Free Youth Campus in Katutura. The visit also featured a discussion with graduates from the DREAMS program, who shared first-hand accounts of the impact of the PEPFAR and USAID-funded project in averting HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women.

PHN recently hosted 70 young people from six regions of Namibia for a youth consultation event in Windhoek. Hearing the perspectives and receiving guidance from these young individuals before launching 'Reach' is a major priority for PHN, ensuring that their voices are well-represented in program implementation. The goal of ‘Reach Namibia’ is to avert new infections for children and youth and improve treatment outcomes for HIV positive children and adolescents.
