Work has resumed on 128 East 28th Street, an eight-story, ten-unit building in NoMad. Designed by TRA Studio for Sinha Development, the 80-foot-tall, 21,038-square-foot project is located on East 28th Street between Lexington Avenue and Park Avenue South.
At the time of YIMBY’s last visit in late August, the topped-out reinforced concrete superstructure sat as an empty shell. Now a recent site visit shows construction workers putting together the main exterior façade and blank eastern wall. The entire northern profile is covered in thick black netting, wooden beams, and metal scaffolding above the sidewalk. We can also slightly see the blue waterproof membrane already put into place. This will eventually be covered by the numerous angled metal panels that will sit between the floor-to-ceiling glass as depicted in the main rendering. Meanwhile the upper mechanical section and residential floors above the main setback are steadily being worked on.
YIMBY last reported that 128 East 28th Street will yield 17,300 square feet of residential space that spans from the second floor to the eighth floor. Each home is set to average 1,734 square feet. A full-floor home is expected to take up the sixth story, while a separate duplex will sit on the top two floors. The setbacks will act as private outdoor terraces for these two units. The ground floor and cellar levels will have nearly 3,100 square feet of retail space.
The below rendering of the rear elevation shows a simpler and more transparent design with balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also an above-ground rendering of the private terraces with the concrete core and mechanical walls covered with metal panels and ventilation grilles.
A revised completion date for 128 East 28th Street is unclear at the moment, however YIMBY predicts that sometime by the end of 2021 is now a likely time frame.

Cute.
I had actually viewed the progress in 2021, and easily looked your evidence what was standing outside: Thanks to New York YIMBY.
