Imagine a young girl in a small community, eager to learn, but unable to continue her education because of circumstances beyond her control. Her dreams of becoming a doctor, teacher, or entrepreneur etc slowly fade as the barriers of poverty and societal expectations close in. But what if we told you that her story doesn't have to end there? At BrenCare Foundation, we believe in the power of second chances. Through our RISE Project (Reintegrating Girls Into School Education), we are rewriting the stories of girls who have been left behind. We are helping them rise, one by one, with the hope and vision of a brighter future. Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, with the theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” we are reminded that every girl has a vision, a dream of who she can become. With the support of initiatives like the RISE Project, she can return to school, don a new uniform, and pick up her books with pride. She can begin to see her future once again a future where she is empowered to lead, to inspire, and to create change. These girls are more than just students, they are future leaders, innovators, and change makers. When we invest in their education, we are not just supporting their present; we’re shaping a future where every girl’s vision has the chance to become reality. So, today, we ask you to stand with us as we help girls rise🤝 Because when a girl is empowered to follow her vision, the whole world changes. #GirlsVisionForTheFuture #DayOfTheGirlChild #TheRISEProject #EmpowerHer #BrenCareFoundation #EducationForAll

BrenCare Foundation proudly joined organizations in Calabar to commemorate World Health Day 2024! This impactful event, led by Girl Power Initiative Calabar and supported by HIVOS under the We Lead project, gathered passionate youth, SRHR/Youth-led organizations, MDAs, UNFPA, media, and health professionals for the Youth Conference on Sexual Health 2024. The conference served as a platform to reflect on the SRH challenges young people face, evaluate our collective progress, and share strategies for addressing gaps. During the panel discussion, our ED Brenda Effiom called on the Ministry of Health to review the State Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Policy highlighting the need to bridge the gap in adolescent and youth-friendly health services. She also commended the dedication of NGOs to supporting SRH for young people and urged that this conference should ignite stronger advocacy for policy implementation. Let’s continue promoting positive relationships and championing SRHR for all, not just today but every day! #WSHD24 #YCSH24 #BCF2024 #GPICalabar #SRHR4All

“Emotional Intelligence is the ability to recognize and manage our emotions and understand others.” We were delighted to have our ED, Mrs. Brenda Effiom Apata facilitate a session on “Emotional Intelligence for Young People” under the Research to Change Small Grants Initiative. Key points discussed on the 5 components of Emotional Intelligence (EI): 1. Self-Awareness: Understanding your own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and how your actions affect others. 2. Self-Regulation: The ability to manage and control your emotions, impulses, and behaviors in a constructive manner. 3. Self-Motivation: The drive to achieve personal and professional goals, maintain optimism, and persevere despite setbacks. 4. Empathy: The ability to understand others’ feelings and perspectives and practice active listening. 5. Social Skills: The ability to communicate effectively, build and maintain relationships, resolve conflicts, and work collaboratively with others. Thank you, Mrs. Brenda, for sharing your knowledge and insights with us. We can’t wait to see our volunteers apply these skills in the work they do BrenCare Foundation #EmotionalIntelligence #TeamWork #TeamBuilding #R2C #ImplementationResearch USAID Root Change
