Prolonged armed conflict across Northeast Nigeria has forcibly displaced numerous communities, leaving their ancestral homes contaminated with explosive remnants of war. As the government prioritizes the relocation of displaced communities, there is a critical need for explosive ordnance risk education. This education must be tailored to address the unique needs and vulnerabilities of all community members, including men, women, boys, and girls. Effective risk education will empower communities to safely navigate their newly returned environments, avoid accidents, and mitigate the risks associated with explosive remnants of war. By doing so, we can promote safer behavior and more sustainable return process for displaced communities. **Flag Off Ceremony** We officially launched the distribution of start-up kits and cash grants to 600 women in Bama LGA. Out of these, 400 women from the host community and 200 women ex-associate beneficiaries participated in this project, which aims to strengthen reintegration and social acceptance through the socio-economic empowerment of women. All these women have completed training in civic education, financial literacy, and various livelihood skills of their choice, with a focus on community-based livelihood options. The project also introduced them to micro gardening and briquette making to help mitigate the effects of climate change and promote sustainable land use practices. The ceremony was inaugurated by the Shehu of Bama, HRH (Dr.) Alh. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, who encouraged the women to make the most of what they have learned and gained from this initiative. This project is supported by UNDP Nigeria #peace #censcope
