  • Kicking Off 2025: Building on Purpose, Strength, and Vision at Ennovate Lab As we step into 2025, we at Ennovate Lab are reminded of an important truth: meaningful impact starts with intentional preparation. For us, the year began with a 3-day retreat that served as a reset, a recharge, and a reminder of why we do what we do. This retreat wasn’t just another item on our to-do list but a cornerstone for everything we hope to achieve this year. It was a time to pause, reflect, and realign with our core values, and it laid the foundation for what promises to be a remarkable year. The retreat started with moments of worship and prayer—a grounding practice that reminded us of the bigger picture. In the hustle and bustle of goals and deadlines, it’s easy to lose sight of the “why.” These intentional moments allowed us to center ourselves, connect as a team, and focus on the purpose behind our work. We also reflected on the highs and lows of 2024. Taking stock of our successes, challenges, and lessons learned wasn’t just a look back—it was a way to inform how we move forward. At the heart of our retreat was a deep dive into what makes Ennovate Lab unique: our vision, mission, and culture. These aren’t just words on a wall; they’re the principles that guide every decision we make and every project we take on. We revisited our company handbook, not just as traditions, but to reconnect with the essence of why Ennovate Lab was created, the principles guiding our work, and how we relate to each other at work. One critical part of the retreat is setting the goals for the new year. To us, these are not just ambitious goals but another layer of our commitment to transforming underserved university communities through technology, entrepreneurship, and placemaking. For us, this retreat wasn’t just about what we do as an organization—it was about who we are as individuals and as a team. It was a reminder that our work has meaning and that every step we take in 2025 is built on a foundation of our faith, purpose, and collaboration. As we move forward, we’re energized by the opportunities that lie ahead and grounded in the commitments we’ve made. We’re ready to make 2025 a year of extraordinary impact. To our partners, stakeholders, and community: thank you for being part of this journey. Together, let’s make this year unforgettable. #PurposeDrivenImpact #DigitalTransformation #Vision2025 #EnnovateLab

Certified Virtual Assistant; I provide administrative and marketing support for your business so that you can focus on what matters. Currently a Data Science student at ALX Africa.

In this just concluded week, I and other humans at the Ennovate Lab recently read "The Art of Asking Questions" by Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, and it’s been a game-changer. This playbook isn’t just about curiosity; it’s a practical guide to mastering the skill of asking powerful, strategic questions in both personal and professional settings. One standout framework was the PALM (Purpose, Audience, Level, Method) model. It emphasizes tailoring questions to your goal, knowing your audience, framing them at the right scope, and delivering them effectively. Personal Takeaway: You might be just one question away from a breakthrough. If you’re in a position where critical thinking and problem-solving are essential (and who isn’t?), this is a must-read! 👉 How do you ensure your questions lead to impactful answers? Let’s discuss below!

Growing up, I was that curious kid who always asked too many questions. I wanted to understand how things worked, like how electricity could heat up irons and cool down freezers simultaneously. This curiosity has been a driving force, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the world and see beyond the surface. Living in a society that often discourages questioning the status quo, I believe it's essential to cultivate a culture of asking the right questions, the right way. Jesudamilare Adesegun-David JD's book, "The Art of Asking Questions," resonated deeply with me. As JD aptly puts it, "To be able to reframe questions is almost a #superpower!" By learning to ask insightful questions, we can unlock new perspectives, drive meaningful change, and achieve great things. I highly recommend "The Art of Asking #Questions" to anyone looking to tap into the power of curiosity. Thank you to Ennovate Lab and Jesudamilare Adesegun-David for this thought-provoking work. When I met Jesudamilare Adesegun-David in 2019, I was greatly inspired by his unassuming and down-to-earth persona along with his highly cerebral capabilities. Eloquent yet simple; brilliant yet humble, JD has been an instrumental force in shaping my professional journey. His mentorship has directly contributed to my career success. Among the many invaluable lessons he's imparted, perhaps the most transformative has been learning to think critically and master the art of asking powerful questions. I'm excited to share that JD has distilled his wisdom into a new book, "The Art of Asking Questions," scheduled to launch on January 4th, coinciding with his birthday. True to his generous nature as a mentor, he's offering the first chapter as a complimentary preview. If you're looking to enhance your professional toolkit and develop sharper analytical skills, I highly recommend exploring JD's insights. His approach to questioning has revolutionized how I think and solve problems, and I believe it could do the same for you. Picture with Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, Dr Azu Ezenwoke and Oyebanji Dolapo Joshua was taken at the Visionnaire Leadership Conference in Lagos circa August 2024. The link will be in the comments: P:S - If you get up to 20 people to join the wait-list, you get the entire book for free.

Community Transformation | Redemptive Tech, Design and Entrepreneurship | Placemaking and Place-anchored Leadership | Genius Clusters | Secondary Cities

Why are you obsessed with secondary cities, JD? This is a question I get asked time and again. And a question I have answered with differing levels of clarity and persuasion over the years. Yes, this is my 13th year of a studied approach to understanding the promise underserved secondary cities across Africa hold out for our continent's prosperity and flourishing. My journey started out in Ogbomoso. I am still here. But the ripple effects of this obsession with Africa's secondary cities have spread across cities and countries across Nigeria and Africa respectively. And even beyond the continent. This burning passion has led me to the famed TEDx stage. And then to #StartupSouth. And onwards to the Ohio Star Theatre. Among others. I have spoken about this in living rooms and offices from #UnderG, Nigeria to #Chicago. Around kitchen tables to study dens from #Trevor to #Mequon. On wine farms to moving cars from #Stanford, SA, to #Naivasha, Kenya. It is the core constant of our work at Ennovate Lab as we seek to utilize tech, entrepreneurship and placemaking to transform, first, Ogbomoso and then other similar cities across Africa to flourishing innovation ecosystems. In 2023, we decided we didn't want to pursue this vision blindly and so we commissioned some desk research to help fill up the gaps with needed data. What we found was amazing and we felt we needed to share for all those who resonate with a similar vision. The report was released as a gift during our 7th Anniversary last year, 2024. We know we just scratched the surface and we are commissioning even more research to unearth more critical insights that will allow more players (#entrepreneurs, #placemakers, #governments, #investors, #donors and other #operators) do great work guided by more accurate data. Gratitude to Oluwaseun ADEPOJU for writing the foreword! Glad to have had an amazing team who made the work a success! Timileyin Arowosola Bamidele Afanwoubo Abayomi-Perez Okekunle Israel Foluso Israel Olaniyan LL.B., B.L. Prince Dashe Olajide Ajibade and others. We send the resource out with the hope that it strengthens the work being done in secondary cities across the continent and that it sparks more dialogue around partnerships to strengthen these emergent ecosystems.
