During the handover ceremony of the R21 Malaria vaccines to Nigeria on Thursday, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, stated that the first batch of vaccines, received through the support of global partners such as Gavi, UNICEF, WHO, and others, marks a significant step toward eliminating malaria in the country. He assured the public of the vaccine's safety and efficacy, adding that distribution would be prioritized in high-burden states like Kebbi and Bayelsa. NPHCDA Director Muyi Aina further outlined plans for the establishment of an enforcement team to oversee vaccine distribution and revealed that an additional 140,000 doses are expected in the coming months to reach the one million-dose target. However, the date and location for administering these vaccines have yet to be decided. #NaijaHealthGist
