Racism is not just an individual act. It is structural, systemic, and deeply ingrained in healthcare. Women, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, face both racial and gender discrimination, from being mistaken for assistants to being denied promotions and excluded from decision-making. But we are not invisible. The voices of women in global health must be heard, valued, and centered. Ending racism means dismantling barriers, amplifying intersectional experiences, and demanding accountability. Equity in healthcare starts with equity for healthcare workers. #fightracism #Intersectionality #HealthEquity

Challenging Power and Privilege For Gender Equity in Health
About us
Women in Global Health (WGH) was founded in 2015 when four women in the health sector met on social media outraged that women are the majority in the sector but hold only a minority of global health leadership roles. Today, we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with 55 Chapters in 51 countries, and over 6,000 members. We are the largest and loudest women-led movement demanding gender equity in leadership, career opportunities, and pay; safe and decent working conditions; and gender equity in universal health coverage and health emergency preparedness and response. We build alliances and our own movement so women in global health will be heard. We are working towards a world that enables women from all regions to be leaders in global health and catalysts for better health for all.

📢 NEW REPORT: Rollback and Resistance – How US-Based Global Health Organisations Are Responding to the DEI Crackdown In the face of a rapidly changing global context, our latest report explores how new U.S. government policies and the risks of non-compliance are reshaping gender and DEI policies at U.S.-based organisations active in global health. The U.S. administration’s crackdown on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) is sending shockwaves through the global health sector. In just one month, over a quarter of U.S.-based global health organisations removed or significantly altered references to DEI and/or gender equality commitments on their websites. This rollback threatens decades of progress in gender equality and workplace inclusion. Through our research we found: 🔻 A 20% reduction in publicly available commitments to gender equality. 🔻 A 33% reduction in published definitions of gender aligned with UN standards. 🔻 A 27% reduction in workplace DEI policies. Read the full report to discover how U.S.-based global health organisations are navigating this attack on DEI, the risks they face, and the resistance that’s rising to defend hard-won progress. ➡️ Dive into the data now: https://lnkd.in/ekmYw-Y5 #GlobalHealth #DEI #DEIA #GenderEquality #GH5050 #RollbackandResistance #Diversity #Inclusion #Accessibility #GenderJustice #Rollback #Equality #Resist #BuildTheResistance #50501
