  • We held the Supply Chain Focal Person’s Review Meeting in Kano to assess lab & pharmacy performance, identify gaps, and collaboratively tackle challenges at ACE2-supported facilities.  This quarter, we focused on resolving data quality issues with a joint session between the pharmacy and lab units, offering hands-on training for NHLMIS report entry to ensure accurate, timely, and standardized data entry at ACE2-supported health facilities across the state.

  • HIV Testing Services (HTS) constitute a critical entry point into the HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support continuum. Recognizing the vital role of HTS in controlling the HIV epidemic, we carried out a 5-day HIV Testing Training of Trainers (ToT) and PrEP ToT in collaboration with National AIDS and STDs Control Program (NASCP), who played a pivotal role as facilitators. Our goal is to create a multiplier effect, where trained healthcare workers can train additional staff in their facilities. Ensuring widespread access to HTS enhances early diagnosis, timely treatment, and effective disease management, driving progress in efforts against HIV.

  • The Jara Wellness Assistant (JWA) is an innovative AI-driven digital health tool developed by Georgetown Global Health Nigeria (GGHN) to revolutionize healthcare delivery via WhatsApp. Initially launched as part of a USAID PEPFAR-funded HIV care and treatment program across three states in northern Nigeria, JWA provides personalized health information, symptom tracking, medication and appointment reminders, and anonymous interactions in multiple languages. In collaboration with the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) in Kenya, SHWARI Health Association in Cameroon, BUMMHI in Botswana, and healthcare professionals in Haiti, JWA now supports HIV/AIDS care and prevention, teenage pregnancy management, and the fight against gender-based violence across these countries.  JWA is designed for individuals facing challenges in accessing conventional health facilities due to barriers like civil unrest or emergencies. By offering accessible, timely health information and guidance, JWA aims to transform the way health information is accessed and utilized by patients and healthcare providers worldwide.

  • Empowering the next generation! HACBY interns recently hosted an engaging panel discussion on 'Global Health Security: Tackling Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Threats.' With five panelists, including two GGHN staff who are alumni of the internship program and three current interns, the discussion addressed Nigeria's GHS challenges and proposed actionable solutions. It was a powerful reminder of the crucial role youth play in shaping our global health future.

  • We hosted a 3-day Semi-Annual Partners Activity Review Meeting with USAID, implementing partners, and project staff to review progress and performance on the ACE II project. We're committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. We focused on strengthening HRH at the community level, improving HIV case finding, scaling up community outreaches, and enhancing the capacity of Community HIV Testers to identify and link individuals living with HIV to care and treatment. By mapping high-prevalence areas and empowering Community HIV Testers, we're ensuring that no one is left behind. 🗺️💪Our collective efforts are driving the ACE II project forward, bringing us closer to achieving HIV epidemic control in 🇳🇬 Nigeria.
