Imagine being a mother in flood-hit Sindh, Pakistan—where access to health care is suddenly cut off. No vaccines for your child. No prenatal checkups. No support. At Jhpiego, we believe health care should not be limited by geography. With the support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, we reached thousands of families with vaccinations, maternal care, and life-saving services. But there’s more work to do. How can we ensure communities continue to access the care they deserve? Let’s talk about solutions. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eWbTdMsP
About us
Jhpiego is a nonprofit global leader in the creation and delivery of transformative health care solutions for the developing world. In partnership with national governments, health experts and local communities, we build health providers’ skills, and develop systems that save lives now and guarantee healthier futures for women and their families. Our aim is revolutionizing health care for the planet’s most disadvantaged people. Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University Affiliate, translates decades of program experience and in-depth technical knowledge into moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families. The moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn to breath; the moment a nurse screens for cervical cancer with a simple vinegar swab; the moment a community health worker tests a man for HIV and reports he is HIV free. By embedding the know-how and skills into everyday practice, we are able to increase access to quality health services and create a healthier future for generations to come. Access to lifesaving health care for all people, whoever they are, wherever they live, that’s our mission. Jhpiego saves lives, improves health, transforms futures.

Tuberculosis remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease, yet we have the tools to prevent and treat it. In a compelling conversation on Public Health On Call, bestselling author and advocate John Green highlights the urgent need for action. He didn’t set out to write about TB. However, after meeting a young man in Sierra Leone who was battling drug-resistant tuberculosis, Green recognized that this was a story the world needed to hear. His book, Everything Is Tuberculosis, explores not only the science of TB but also the social forces that allow this curable disease to persist. At Jhpiego, we witness the effects of TB firsthand in the communities we serve. Our approach is cost-effective, person-centered, and holistic, ensuring that TB prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment reach those who need it most. We know what works—but we need sustained investment and commitment. 💙https://lnkd.in/eTJ7x6dd This discussion is a must-listen for anyone working in global health and for those who believe in a world where everyone has access to quality care. 🎧 Listen to the episode: https://lnkd.in/e_B6qVqc
John Green joins Public Health On Call to discuss his new book, Everything Is Tuberculosis. The New York Times bestselling author shares why he chose to write about tuberculosis, the current state of public health and its challenges, and how TB and its prevalence reflects so much on who we are as a society. 🚨 Almost 800 women die every day from preventable causes linked to pregnancy and childbirth. 🚨 But innovations like family-led postnatal care are making a difference. Stephanie Suhowatsky, Jhpiego's ARC Project Director highlights how ARC's home-care kit helps mothers and families detect danger signs early and seek timely care—a game changer, especially in low-resource settings. The results? A 96% postnatal checkup rate in the first three days after birth—compared to just 10% before the intervention.
