Yesterday 11th October, in commemoration of International Day of the Girl Child, Girls Education Mission International hosted 62 girls across 28 schools and communities alongside dignitaries from the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board and other members of staff and the press with the theme “#GirlsVisionForTheFuture”. Our Executive Director delivered an impactful keynote address, emphasizing the importance of listening to girls and the need for their active participation in shaping their futures. The girls were also opportune to engage in what we tagged “My vision for the future contest” where they shared their visionary essays showcasing their aspirations and dreams for a brighter and better tomorrow. Three founding Girls of the organization shared their personal journeys, experiences and advice, inspiring the younger generation. Participants also created a visual presentation of their goals and aspirations creating room for self-reflection. The event was celebrated with a cake which was baked by one of the founding girls, free sanitary pad for the participants, dance and fun activities. We believe that this program was a platform for girls to express themselves and share their visions helping them to realize that their voice matters and they can make a difference. #internationaldayofthegirlchild24#IDG2024#visionboard#DayoftheGirl#educationmatters #education #OctoberSpecial
