The Mechanical Engineering programme is designed to equip graduate with enough basic engineering principles so that they can stand out and cope with challenges of a developng country like ours. The philosophy of the departmental programme is to expose students to the science and technology of materials giving the students a sound theoretical background of the fundamentals and showing them the link between theory and practice by way of laboratory, practical, work-visits and industrial attachments. The first three years are devoted to basic sciences and fundamental principles of engineering sciences. The last two years deal with the more specialized branches of mechanical engineering such as machine design, production engineering, refrigeration and air-conditioning and mechanical repair and maintenance.

Yesterday, representatives from Moniepoint Group visited our department for an assessment and meeting regarding the furnishing and equipping of a state-of-the-art CAD/Simulation laboratory. The visit was a success, featuring productive discussions on how to make the lab optimally beneficial for our students' training. This initiative promises to enhance our students' learning experience, providing them with the tools and skills necessary to excel in their engineering careers. Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the NiMechE UI conference, an event that truly lived up to its theme: "Beyond the Blueprint." It was an enlightening experience that showcased how engineering and innovation can converge to create sustainable solutions for our future. One key takeaway was the idea that to monetize a problem, we must first highlight it. This approach not only brings awareness but also opens the door for innovative solutions and investment opportunities. The conference illustrated how "jugaad" meets design thinking. It's where improvisation isn't just making do; it's a form of innovation. This intersection is where we find the most creative and practical solutions to complex problems. The discussions on circularity emphasized the importance of the three R's: reuse, recycle, and repurpose. Lastly, the spotlight on CNG innovations highlighted the strides we're making in clean energy. It's inspiring to see such progress in developing technologies that could lead to a greener, more sustainable world. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the organizers, speakers, the president of NiMechE OAU Ademiluyi Desire and fellow attendees who made this conference not only possible but also a memorable and impactful event. The University of Ibadan provided a refreshing environment that was conducive to learning and collaboration. 🌟 Exciting News Alert! 🌟 Over the past two days, I've had the incredible opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking project focused on bi-fuel engine technology. Together with an amazing team, we explored the possibilities of using both Petrol and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) to power an engine. 🚗💨 This initiative is not just about innovation; it's about sustainability and environmental consciousness. By introducing CNG as an alternative fuel, we aim to significantly reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. 🌿♻️ First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the Almighty God, the giver of life and strength, for guiding us through this endeavor. 🙏 I'm thrilled to share that our hard work paid off, and we successfully ran an engine on both CNG and petrol! 🎉 None of this would have been possible without the support of our partners, Joyce Daser-Adams CSM® MWES , Richie LAWAL and his dedicated team Autogas Nigeria , AUTOLADY GARAGE who brought this initiative to the OAU community. Our students recently embarked on an industrial visit to Nigerian Breweries Plc and Nigerian Bottling Company Plc in Ibadan. Witnessing firsthand the operations and innovations at these renowned companies, they students gained valuable insights into the real-world applications of their studies. From production processes to quality control measures, the visit provided a comprehensive understanding of industrial practices in action. We extend our gratitude to Nigerian Breweries and NBC for hosting our students and providing them with this invaluable learning experience.
