I took the center stage at the 37th International Conference and AGM of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State as one of the paper presenters. It was indeed a glamorous events. It was such an engaging presentation as I got 10 questions and one contribution from my audience which comprises of top tier professionals from every sector you can think of. It was an excellent presentation as we discussed the importance of CNG as an alternative fuel with more consideration on sustainability. Should I tell you the truth? Between me and you, I was so proud of myself cos I did well. The presentation was part of a result from an ongoing research in partnership with the OAU Department of Mechanical Engineering. The research is focused on finding lasting solutions to the concerns of Nigerians as we transition to gas as an alternative energy source. I appreciate the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers for such a rare privilege and opportunity, putting a young boy like myself on such an international stage (the biggest gathering of mechanical engineers in Africa) and also your openness to learn from the little I know. In summary, I made an argument that CNG offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to PMS among many other benefits. And this was widely accepted by members of the institution and attendees of the conference. Joyce Daser-Adams FIMI,FAutoEI,MWES Autogas Nigeria

They’ve always told me that whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. This kept ringing when Prof Surajudeen Obayopo, the HOD of the OAU Department of Mechanical Engineering, contacted me about donating items to one of the department's labs. It’s been years since I graduated from OAU, and while the experience shaped me in many ways, I vividly remember the challenges of learning without access to a fully equipped lab. We worked with what we had back then, but that doesn’t mean the new generation should face the same limitations. This is why I am incredibly proud to have not just donated a few items but revamped the CAD & CAM lab for my alma mater, powered by the Tosin Eniolorunda Foundation, in collaboration with Moniepoint. This is more than just a physical upgrade; it is about creating an environment where students can push the boundaries of engineering and design and have the tools they need to thrive in today’s world. Last week, we officially launched the revamped lab with the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, and other esteemed dignitaries of the school in attendance. Although I couldn’t be there in person, I was represented by my amazing siblings, alongside some members of the Moniepoint Group team, who share my commitment to advancing STEM in Nigeria. This lab is a small part of a bigger vision—seeing more young Nigerians solve real-world problems through technology and innovation. To the students, this lab is now yours. Use it as your playground and personal canvas to dream big and push the boundaries of what’s possible. The future is yours, and I can’t wait to see what you achieve.

Technical Manager - Project and Operations | Author - Funded Graduate Admission | Industry 4.0 | I help professionals secure fully funded graduate admission

I am honored to have been invited by the OAU Department of Mechanical Engineering to speak to the graduating final year students today during their engineering for future career seminar. My session commenced at 5AM CST. I had to wake up at around 4AM because I am 6 hours behind the time in Nigeria. It is not common to be invited by one's alma mater. So when I got the invitation from the head of department Prof Surajudeen Obayopo requesting that I speak to the students, it was an easy decision. It means I am doing something that the department thought the graduating class can learn from. I spoke on the topic 'LEVERAGING GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR GLOBAL IMPACT'. During the discussion, I shared simple steps to secure fully funded graduate admissions. I equally encouraged them to have a global mindset. This will help them in knowing how to present what they have in a way that will be acceptable to the graduate schools. The truth is there are numerous scholarships and funding across the world, but particularly in North America. Positioning your applications to be competitive enough is beyond having good grades. It requires deploying proven steps that guarantee results. These and many more were areas I touched on during my presentation. I shared my experience as an undergraduate student and how education has helped me live a decent live. So, I emphatically told them that education is not a scam. It was equally very humbling for me to see Prof Gbadebo Moses Owolabi make a few remarks and share his thoughts after my presentation. Prof Owolabi was instrumental to my admission into Howard University. Seeing (though virtually) some of the professors and teachers (Saheed ADIO, PhD, MNSE, R.Eng (COREN), Muritala Adam, Mrs Kukoyi, etc.) that provided the foundation that has helped us to shine on global stages was another high point of the session. I think the department is doing a great job in exposing the graduating class to realities of opportunities they can latch on as they complete their undergraduate program. The whole program package that also involved showcasing the students final year projects is very commendable. So, to the organizers and the department of mechanical engineering Obafemi Awolowo University, thank you for having me. I wish the 2024 graduating class of Mechanical Engineering Department OAU success in whatever they decide to pursue. Great Ife! To Your Greatness, Johnson Aina, P.Eng., PMP®
