  • Redefining Power: My Journey to Leading and Innovating at Ikeja Electric   My name is Fatima Haliru, SFC™. I lead. I challenge. I create. And I stand as living proof that when women are trusted to rise, they don’t just lead—they transform everything they touch.   In an industry where power is often measured in megawatts and machinery, true power—human power—is what drives sustainable change. At Ikeja Electric, we’re not just lighting up cities. We’re lighting up people—especially women—with the belief that they can redefine leadership on their own terms.   From my earliest days in Customer Care, I knew I had more to offer than just answers. I saw problems not as barriers, but as invitations to innovate. Ikeja Electric saw it too. They didn’t put me in a box—they handed me a platform. That trust fueled my growth, pushing me from the frontlines of customer service to the strategic engine room of the Power Purchase team. I didn’t just switch roles—I rewrote what was possible.   What’s remarkable is this: Ikeja Electric isn’t content with quiet success stories. It amplifies them. It challenges every employee—especially women—to show up fully, take space, and shape the future. Because here, growth isn’t about ticking boxes; it’s about tearing them down.   That belief empowered me—and two phenomenal women (one now a trailblazer beyond our walls)—to co-author a book tackling real challenges in the mini-grid space. This wasn’t a side project. It was a bold statement: that women in energy don’t wait for permission. We create the solutions.   As International Women’s Month wraps up, I offer this challenge to every woman reading this: stop asking if leadership is for you. Start asking what kind of leader you dare to become. At Ikeja Electric, we’re not waiting for the future. We’re building it—with women at the helm. #IWD2025 #Accelerateaction #Minigrids #Womeninenergy #Sustainabledevelopment #Energyleadership

  • Ikeja Electric Clarifies Misinformation on Social Media Regarding Alleged Cable Vandalism Lagos, Nigeria – March 26, 2025 – The attention of Ikeja Electric has been drawn to a report circulating on social media alleging that two of its employees were caught vandalizing cables attached to a transformer in the Lawson community on March 24, 2025. This claim is incorrect. To set the record straight, Ikeja Electric does not condone any unlawful act that undermines our commitment to delivering an efficient and reliable power supply. This applies to our direct employees, third-party contractors, and any individuals or groups, regardless of their status. According to Kingsley Okotie, Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric, the individuals in question are employees of Arise Business Link, a company engaged by Ikeja Electric for debt recovery operations. They are currently being interrogated by the Lagos State Police Command to gather more information about their activities, possible accomplices, and other relevant details to aid their prosecution. Earlier this year, we made a public appeal to community members, security agencies, and traditional institutions to assist in combating vandalism and energy theft by reporting suspicious activities. The collaboration with local security groups and communities such as Lawson-Oke-Ira in Ojodu and Epe has been instrumental in tackling these crimes. Just weeks ago, vandals along the Epe corridor were apprehended, and now another group has been caught. We commend the Lagos State Government, security agencies, local communities, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support in the fight against these criminal activities. At Ikeja Electric, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards vandalism, energy theft, and safety infractions. These illegal activities not only disrupt power supply but also lead to significant financial losses due to infrastructure replacement and revenue shortfalls.
