As Team Consolidation’23 concludes their tenure, it's important to acknowledge a significant innovation they brought to the Nigerian Economics Students' Association (NESA). On February 12, 2024, under the leadership of Oluwasegun Aderounmu, FMVA®, NESA launched the Economic Research Challenge (ERC) 1.0. This competition challenged participants to write a maximum of 1,500-word essay exploring the topic:"Impact of Financial Inclusion on Mitigating Poverty in Nigeria." Following a competitive application process, our esteemed sponsor,Inspiring the African Youth for Development (IAYD), selected three finalists who emerged as the first, second, and third-place winners. The winners were announced and awarded prizes during the POWWOW 2.0 event in the NESA week on March 8th. Congratulations to all the winners! Akeem Adepoju, Rebecca Adesina, FMVA® and Oluwabukola Abolade for emerging first, second and third-place respectively. Your success is a testament to your hard work, and we are incredibly proud of you. We also extend appreciation to everyone who applied. Thank you for your participation. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our wonderful sponsors, Inspiring the African Youth for Development (IAYD) and Edubridge Academy . Thank you for your trust and partnership. This success would not have been possible without your support. Furthermore, we extend our deepest appreciation to Daniel Abioye, FMVA®, the head of the ERC committee, and his dedicated committee members: Ayooluwa Odole, Adebukola Salami, FMVA®, Dorcas Ariyo, Moyinoluwa Omole and Christiannah Akinleye for their invaluable contributions to this initiative. A final thank you goes to the NESA executives for their unwavering support. We are thrilled to have introduced this innovative program to NESA and eagerly look forward to ERC 2.0 and beyond! We are glad to have set the pace for upcoming students of our faculty who can participate in this challenge and strive to do more beyond what is taught in the four walls of the classroom❤️.

At IAYD, we advocate that investing in African youth is a collective imperative. With over 60% of the world's extreme poor in Sub-Saharan Africa, urgent action is needed. Global poverty is escalating, disproportionately affecting regions like South Asia and the Middle East/North Africa. African youth hold immense untapped potential. By investing together in education, skills training, and entrepreneurship, we can drive economic growth continent-wide. Let's fortify resilience against unemployment and inequality by investing jointly in job creation and workforce development. Together, we can empower youth to shape inclusive societies and secure a prosperous future for Africa. #InvestInAfricanYouth #InvestInAfricanYouth #EmpowermentForChange #AfricaRising #FutureLeaders #SustainableDevelopment #OpportunityForAll #EndPoverty
