After mastering breaststroke and improving his freestyle, our one-legged amputee champion, Femi, has now taken on a new challenge—learning backstroke in an Olympic-size swimming pool! With every stroke, he’s proving that determination beats limitation. His progress is a testament to the power of resilience and the magic of swimming in transforming lives. With the right support, more children like Femi can gain confidence, independence, and the opportunity to shine. Let’s keep pushing for inclusion, empowerment, and excellence in swimming! Please like, comment, and share to spread the message! Empowering lives through adaptive swimming in Nigeria.
About us
According to WHO, more than 1.3 billion people worldwide have a disability. Most of them live in developing countries and have to endure extreme situations: stigmatization, discrimination, poverty, exclusion from education and employment, and all kinds of barriers, including superstitious ones. People living with disabilities and the less privileged are often the majority of victims of climate change induced disasters and accidents in African countries. Empowering these vulnerable members of our African societies with survival swimming not only improves their quality of life and becomes the most effective rehabilitation and social reintegration therapy, but also saves their lives. My name is Emeka Chuks-Nnadi, Founder and Director of Swim in 1 Day (SID) Project. It is the only swimming Charity in the world that is also a Movement (which includes you every time you support SID) and also as a Campaign (empowers through education).

SID does a throwback of the exceptional journey of some of our 2 great female students as we celebrate International Women's Day under the theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” The Swim in 1 Day SID Lady Empowerment Program is a program that needs funding to take off the way it should for us to be able to accomplish our united objective. That is related to the March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day theme that calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. We invite you to like share and comment below if you feel the progress. . . . . . . . . . . . #swimin1day #swimsafenigeria #swimsafeafrica #swimafricatv #InclusiveSwimming #adaptiveathlete #adaptiveathletes #paraswimmer #paralympics #blindbutnotblind #blindswimmer #paraplegic #paraplegico #internationalwomensday #happyinternationalwomensday #happyinternationalwomensday❤️ #blackgirlmagic✨ #blackgirlmagic

Femi is a full beneficiary of the Swim in 1 Day (SID) Charity Initiative’s “SID scholarship”, which covers his training fees, healthcare, feeding, transportation, and public pool entry fees—since our new organization does not yet have its own facility. His family could not afford these costs, but with the SID scholarship, he can pursue his dreams. He is the first member of Nigeria’s first-ever Junior Paralympic Preparatory Swim Team under Swim in 1 Day (SID) Africa and is already training to represent Nigeria at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics—the world’s biggest stage for athletes with disabilities. At Pacelli School for the Blind in Surulere, Lagos, we currently have over 40 students on full SID scholarships actively swimming. Unfortunately, due to a lack of external funding, we are unable to take on more students at the moment. Meanwhile, through the Lagos Ministry of Education, we have gained access to five more special needs schools—adding 850 children with disabilities to our waiting list. These kids desperately need water therapy, which offers healing, relief, and the life-changing benefits of swimming. Everyday, we are making history—creating opportunities no one in Nigeria ever thought possible. By breaking barriers and building dreams, we are proving that the impossible is possible. We cannot do this alone. By joining the SID Coalition—through volunteering or donating—you help us reach more children with disabilities, reducing their vulnerability to drowning and securing a brighter future for them. This is not just our mission—it is a shared obligation to create a safer and more inclusive world for all . . . . . #swimin1day #swimsafenigeria #swimsafeafrica #swimafricatv #SIDScholarship #ParalympicDreams #EmpowerThroughSwimming #BreakingBarriers #inclusivesports #FutureChampions #WaterTherapy #SupportParaAthletes #MakingHistoryTogether #paralympics #disabilitysports #lagosnigeria #watersafety #swimteam #africanathletes #swimlife #seatherapy #donate #gofundme #supportourcharity

The students of the Pacelli speak up about what effect Swim in 1 Day through swim training has had in their lives. It is remarkable because they all spoke from the heart and left our founder Swim Guru Emeka in tears. In the Pacelli School for the blind we have only been able to give SID Scholarships to only about 40 students. Your support could help us multiply this effort. Thank you. At Swim in 1 Day we believe and standby the statement "preparedness is learning to swim" (with regards to the Future, Climate disaster and accident readiness) it implies that by learning how to swim, you are actively preparing yourself for potential situations where water safety is crucial, essentially making yourself more ready to handle unexpected water-related emergencies; it signifies that swimming ability is a valuable life skill that can help prevent drowning in situations like falling into water unexpectedly. This is why we are pushing out this urgent call to action! Urging Africa and the world to “DO SOMETHING NOW!” Before it is too late. Reminding everyone that the SID logo in itself is a call to action: “Better Safe than Sorry”. That was how Day 1 of Season 3 of the Empower your child with swimming workshop ended. . . . . . . . . . . #swimin1day #swimsafenigeria #swimsafeafrica #swimafricatv #BetterSafeThanSorry #PreparednessIsLearningToSwim #WaterSafety #DrowningPrevention #ClimateChangeAwareness #EmergencyReadiness #SwimForSurvival #SaveLivesWithSwimming #NoMoreDrowning #ActNow #LifesavingSkills #EmpowerThroughSwimming #SwimToThrive #FutureReady #climateaction

We showed you already Day 4 of Season 3 which was all about Disability Awareness and Inclusion and the Stop Discrimination Campaign. This is Day 1, and it started with special advice from the Children on how we could all contribute towards safeguarding their future by adopting habits that would keep us all healthier, safer and happier. Swim in 1 Day suggestions are as follows: 1. Reduce or stop smoking completely especially not around children. 2. Proper waste disposal to prevent clogging of waterways. 3. Less use of generators and petrol cars to reduce carbon emissions and keep us healthier. Avoiding pollution in general is key. 4. Frequent tree planting exercises 5. Swimming is the highest form of Preparedness for Climate Change and its consequences. Visit www.swimin1day.org for more. Students of the Pacelli School for the Blind & Partially Sighted Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria made history once again as they included swimming for the first time ever in their interhouse sports! These incredible students didn’t just have swimming competitions in 6 categories, they fully embraced the water, engaging in other exciting competitions in water that included activities like object retrieval, handstands, and, somersaults. Seeing their enthusiasm and confidence grow in the water was a powerful reminder that inclusion in sports is not just possible but necessary. This is just the beginning of many great things to come for people with disabilities and Swim in 1 Day.
