Yesterday, the Pivot Park in Oss officially opened the Curie Building, where we shape AstraZeneca's ambitions in hematology research. Among the attendees were Constantijn Van Oranje-Nassau (Techleap), Hans Schikan (member of the Top Team Life Sciences & Health), the Swedish ambassador in The Netherlands H.E. Johannes Oljelund, as well as representatives of the British Embassy The Hague and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. In this new, highly sustainable, #BREEAM-certified R&D facility over 100 scientists work on treatments for hematological malignancies, from basic research to clinical studies in academic centers worldwide. The new Curie building is our new base for the European research that Acerta Pharma conducts together with AstraZeneca. The opening day marked an important milestone for Acerta in her pursuit of better therapies. After moving into Marie Curie, our new Haematology R&D centre on the life sciences campus Pivot Park in Oss, we had the distinct pleasure of a visit of our minister of health, Pia Dijkstra and to show the minister the research taking place within Acerta Pharma. The facility is our new home for both preclinical research- and clinical scientists and includes more than 3,300 m2 state-of-the-art chemistry and bioscience labs and offices. These provide us with all we need to accelerate our continuing quest to develop innovative medications for haematological oncologic malignancies. In line with AstraZeneca’s commitment to leading in sustainability, the building is designed according to high sustainability standards and has received the sustainability BREEAM certificate.   In addition to visiting Acerta, the minister spent time at Aspen API, the Pivot Park Screening Centre and Trained Therapeutix Discovery. The morning ended with a conversation about important themes for providing sustainably good care, as there is security of supply, solutions for medicine shortages, the Dutch business climate and the innovation capacity of life science companies.
