They’ve already invested in 1000s of solar panels and will further expand their sustainable storage capacity in Belgium to nearly 100MWh by the end of 2024 to support their growing operations across multiple logistics hubs. In this Q&A, Yves Vercammen, Alfen’s Country Manager for Belgium, shares how our collaboration is making an impact: Q: Yves, what challenge did Katoen Natie face in terms of renewable energy? Yves: "Katoen Natie needed a solution that didn’t just increase their renewable energy use but also allowed for efficient storage and management. Their energy needs fluctuate with the variability of solar and wind energy so a flexible and scalable solution was key." Q: How did our TheBattery Elements help? Yves: "Our TheBattery Elements system allows Katoen Natie to store surplus renewable energy and deploy it when demand spikes or renewable production drops. This ensures they have a constant and reliable energy supply, even when conditions are unpredictable. Plus, the system is modular, so it scales as their energy needs grow."
