Meet Pierette Scavuzzo design director at Cone Denim and hear about her vision for the fabrics used for the ROOTED collection. 💙 Cone Denim’s history is Rooted in workwear. Their first fabric ever produced was for workwear garments, intending to be strong, durable, and comfortable for the worker. Fast-forward over 130 years, Cone Denim continues to supply to workwear brands and is still innovating in the space. The fabrics curated for this collection were chosen based on criteria of having sustainable components, being durable, and bringing a stylistic aspect to AMK Atelier’s workwear capsule. ROOTED – Meet Isabelle We love a strong community, especially one driven by women! Meet Isabelle, one of the women at de Stadsgroenteboer, as she shares her passion for the CSA concept and a career in farming that has become a way of life. Traditional workwear is often designed with men in mind. In this project, we took a different approach and have created tailor-made denim workwear that will not only support the farmers in their daily tasks but will also take on the life and personality of the wearer. We can’t wait to check in with Isabelle later this year. ROOTED – Meet Lisa On the western edge of Amsterdam, Lisa and her farmer colleagues at de Stadsgroenteboer are growing over 50 different vegetables and more than 15 herbs for the local community and the members of their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Although the farm is quite small, they still produce a considerable amount of food using bio-intensive techniques. At the same time, they are very conscious about keeping the soil fertile and healthy. They use compost, green manures, and other methods inspired by nature to not only maintain but actually improve the quality of the land. In this video, you can see Lisa wearing custom workwear designed by AMK and made from Cone Denim fabrics. We can’t wait to see how these wear in over the next year!
