Organizing parking for 30,000 bicycles for one night - can it really be done? Museum Night Amsterdam, the city’s biggest and possibly most fun art event, was back! Just like in “A Night at the Museum,” the museums seemed to come alive. This year, over 30,000 visitors explored 73 museums all over the city. With just one ticket, they could dive into all the amazing art and history Amsterdam has to offer. And, of course, almost everyone hopped on their bikes to move from one pink-marked museum to the next. Bikes everywhere! Each year, it’s a real challenge to keep the museums and public squares accessible for everyone. And yes, for this mission, Bikenine was called in once again to organize bike parking at the busiest spots. As invented 5 years ago, we used white lines on the ground to show people where to park. And also this time it surprisingly works like magic. Everyone parks neatly within the lines. Instead of a huge tangle of bikes where people would have to struggle to pull theirs out, the bikes were lined up nicely. This made things easier for pedestrians and residents too. We also used the familiar green and white colors, which people in Amsterdam instantly recognize as guides for where to park. Actually yet another example that well-functioning solutions do not have to be difficult. Thank you to N8 | Stichting Museumnacht Amsterdam, to all the enthusiastic visitors, the volunteers, the contractors, “square fixers,” and, of course, Bikenine, for making this night another success. See you next year! 💃🎉
