Protecting Heritage in Crisis
Over ons
Blue Shield International (BSI) is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage in conflict and conflict-affected environments with specific emphasis on the effective implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and other relevant instruments of international law addressing the protection of cultural heritage. Since 2016, BSI has since provided extensive advisory support on matters related to conflict-related cultural heritage protection to the United Nations, NATO, OSCE and other multilateral and bilateral security organisations, and as specified under the Second Protocol of the Hague Convention is a consultative member of the UNESCO Committee on the Protection of Cultural Property in Armed Conflict. BSI provides consultative support to over thirty (30) Blue Shield National Committees (NCs) constituted under the Blue Shield General Assembly and overseen by the Blue Shield Interntional Board.
