📢 Announcement! 📢 We are excited to share that our research proposal on "Exploring the Intersection of Climate and Feminist Funding through CSR Frameworks in Emerging Market Economies", developed by our very own founders Beatrice Maneshi and Aviva Stein, together with Aditi Mukund of the Women In International Relations Network (WIRN) and Leonida Odongo, has been selected out of 123 proposals by the #WalkingTheTalk Consortium, composed of Restless Development, Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, Equipop and Hivos! As part of the call for papers for the upcoming "Financing for Feminist Futures" conference, we will be examining how feminist organizations and climate justice movements can better align and cooperate to access public and private funding in countries with emerging markets such as Kenya and India as part of regulations to promote fair, just, and sustainable futures for all. Watch this space for insights, trends, and intersectional feminist advocacy! #GenderEquality #FeministFunding #Research #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CSR #FloraFaunaAndFeminists #ClimateJusticeIsGenderjustice

🌍Working as a global team means we don’t often get to meet our friends, colleagues, and partners in person, so these moments are always extra special! Our co-founder, Aviva Stein, got to have a mini reunion with John Jal Dak, one of our very first podcast guests all the way back in 2018! It was great to hear how he’s been continuing his critical work to foster sustainable peace through understanding and equity among refugee youth in East Africa with Youth Social Advocacy Team (YSAT), alongside advisory roles with UNHCR and the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY). Learn more about the incredible peace building work he’s doing here: https://bit.ly/4fdKw5W And for the backstory, give our podcast a listen here: https://bit.ly/3C9L2Dn #Peacebuilding #GlobalYouth #SustainablePeace #YouthLeadership

Our research focuses on how climate response and mitigation financing intersects with feminist funding through voluntary and mandatory CSR frameworks in emerging market economies, with a specific emphasis on Kenya and India. This paper will be presented in Spring 2025 to a global audience of governments and donors as part of The Walk the Talk Consortium’s policy recommendations. Our research explores: 🔺How corporations and governments are regulated via CSR to address climate change. 🔺How gender-responsive elements are integrated into CSR frameworks. 🔺The role CSR can play in supporting feminist organizations in these economies. We are also investigating the nexus between financing and accessibility for feminist organizations, identifying the challenges they face and the opportunities to leverage climate finance. Our ultimate goal is to generate actionable policy recommendations that promote equitable, accessible climate finance mechanisms to empower women and marginalized communities Hivos Mama Cash Equipop Center for Feminist Foreign Policy https://lnkd.in/dQHb8_Nj

Catalystas stands with Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir-Argentina in the fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights. The majority of women in Latin America are trapped by restrictive abortion laws that stem from centuries of colonial oppression and rigid religious dogma. These laws deny women the autonomy over their own bodies and lives. CDD-Argentina boldly challenges these injustices. They uplift the voices of women, girls, and LGBTQI+ individuals, dismantling harmful narratives that have silenced them for too long. Through grassroots education and fierce advocacy, they ignite a movement for change, ensuring that every person can access safe and legal reproductive healthcare. We teamed up to enhance their financial strength and broaden their reach, and together, we developed tailored fundraising strategies that empower their mission. We provided hands-on training and practical tools for project management. In just 18 months, we transformed their approach to advocacy, enabling them to amplify their impact. This fight goes beyond legislation. It’s deeply personal. It’s about lives, choices, and dignity. It’s about creating a world where everyone has the right to choose freely and without fear. 🔍How do our identities shape our fight for environmental justice? Gender, race, and class are not just details—they determine how we experience the environment and access the resources we need to survive. Women, especially those from marginalized communities, are hit hardest by climate change. They do the lion’s share of unpaid care work—76% globally—which means they’re often left with fewer opportunities to recover from disasters. When crisis strikes, it’s girls who are 2.5 times more likely to be pulled out of school, sacrificing their futures to help families cope. Displacement makes things even worse. Domestic violence spikes by 30-40% in the chaos, and many men, stripped of their role as providers, turn to substance abuse. These are not isolated statistics—this is what environmental injustice looks like. But this fight is about more than just conserving the planet. It’s about breaking down the systems that deepen inequality. We can’t talk about climate action without addressing how it affects people on the ground—especially those who are most vulnerable. An intersectional feminist approach demands that we ask: How do we ensure the voices of all communities are heard? How do we build a future where those most impacted by injustice lead the way? The time to act is now. Let’s make sure no one is left behind. 🚨From floods in Indonesia, to mudslides in Pakistan, desertification in the Sahel region, and rising sea-levels in Bangladesh - communities around the world are in crisis. 💪This growing frequency and intensity of climate disasters around the world makes one thing clear - we must act now! 🌍Flexible funding makes a real difference, and it’s proven time and again to be the most effective way to build resilience. But to make it work, we must prioritize unrestricted funding as the key to empower local communities on the frontlines. 🔄Our work with the START Network highlights the power of rapid, adaptable and localized responses. Unrestricted funding not only allows for faster interventions, but it also empowers local actors to decide how resources are used. 🌐Between April and August 2022, we’ve evaluated a three-year unrestricted grant to the START Network from an institutional donor. Led by Judith Vollebregt and Aviva Stein, our assessment revealed how flexible funding strengths localization and innovation in humanitarian programs. It supports local hubs, fuels systemic change and builds resilience by enabling communities to direct resources where they’re needed the most. Explore our lessons from the START Network evaluation, and how the network is leading the way in establishing locally-led systems that prioritize accountability and participation. 🔗Read more: https://bit.ly/3TYMte5 #DisasterRiskReduction #FlexibleFunding #STARTNetwork #Localization

💔Millions in the Middle East are fighting mental health issues in silence. Crisis after crisis, now followed by the swiftly escalating and ongoing conflict fueled by the Netanyahu administration's choice to abandon the best interests of the people, the region, and the world, is leaving behind a legacy of trauma that countless communities are forced to bear without essential support. The physical devastation is visible, but what about the emotional and psychological scars? And this is only one example. The mental health crisis impacting communities affected by crisis and conflict goes beyond the MENA region; it's a global issue. It’s estimated that mental health conditions could cost the global economy as much as $16 trillion by 2030, yet it's alarming that less than 2% of global government health spending goes towards mental health services. On this World Mental Health Day we’re calling on governments, international organizations, NGOs and individuals to take immediate action. We must amplify the voices and stories of those most affected. Watch this powerful message from our team member Noura Amkieh - Licensed Psychologist - a clinical psychologist from Beirut, Lebanon, who bravely shares her insights on the mental health challenges faced by those living in conflict zones. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters
